As I stated above if you put a wrap of the 60 side by side with the 40 it will be noticeably smaller. Do a test wrap and you will see. Beyond that have at it.

Madeira Polyneon comes in three sizes, though you don't have the full color selections in 60 nor in 75 as you do in 40. To your question, are you asking if the Madeira can be used in conjunction with rod wrapping thread size "A" or "D"? Size 40 Polyneon used in conjunction with rod wrapping "A" will work ok just be aware the Polyneon is slightly smaller. Using Pol

Only if you are changing from green to blue again, otherwise you are just bringing the blue back to the left. Always make your color changes in the same way.

I would suggest a Black Paint Pen. Dries quickly and is better than the Ink in a Sharpie for what you are doing.

Kevin; I built a whole new thread carriage for my Custom Power Wrapper (a lot like the bed on the AmTac). I didn't like the thread right in front of me and I wanted to use large spools of thread. I also don't like the sewing machine type thread tensioner. There is a picture of the conversion I made for my Renzetti in my Gallery and I think I may have a picture in one of my files of the carriag

I would suggest that you build up the blank with cork tape and cover it with cold shrink. You can cap each end with what ever you like but you don't want a hard slippery grip.

Look at the Super Seeker blanks. They are a composite and have the action you are looking for. The Inshore, Blue lightening blanks, wouldl also be a good choice.

Adam; First off, if there are those with the wood working skills, you might see if they could make the rod wrappers. My suggestion to you, is that you make sure you have adequate light and space. Thread work is difficult in the dark. Overhead lights in a meeting hall aren't enough. So try out the classroom lighting ahead of time. Then, don't try to teach anything you haven't done a number of t

Scott; send me an E-Mail to, jandjupton@earthlink.net, along with the picture of what you want. I'll try to help. The problem we will have is, I will not be able to E-Mail the pattern back to you unless you have the program I use to make it, so I will have to print it and mail it t

If you go to the web site for the boat you are going on you should be able to find a list of suggested tackle. Then get the blank numbers for the ones you want. Trolling and throwing bait will not be the same blank. I would suggest a Super Seeker 6463 XXH for trolling and a Super Seeker 1X3 for bait.

Jay; I work standing up and put my work bench at 37" rom the floor to the top. That puts the center of the lathe chuck at about 43". That's a comfortable height for me. I'm about your height so that may work for you but the lathe chuck may not be as high as mine. I use a Renzetti.

I would think you could put a shelf above and/or below the one your lathe is to be mounted on. So really, you only need enough room to accommodate the lathe on the shelf. everything else can go above or below.

Lay out your pattern on graph paper, in color. Write the Left list in color as you transfer the thread numbers to the list.

Adolfo; It is a process explained in detail, in my book "A guide to thread weaving for the custom rod builder". However, remove the thread from its slot in the loom or jig on the left and drop it in front of you then take all of the threads out of the loom or jig on the right side, pick up the color you want to change to, separate it so when you lift it there are no threads between it a
