Can someone point me to the issue of Rodmaker that had the article on powder coating rod components? I'm sure I have it but cannot remember which issue it was in. Thanks.

I understand how she manages to retrieve it like that, but how does she hold the rod to cast it?

There is NOTHING between an MT1 and an MT2. So you either have some crud or something in there or you received a taper that was incorrectly machined.

This event just keeps getting better. Not sure how to put it into words. Just more of everything. The seminars are aging like fine wine, getting better each year. The presenters are top notch and outdid themselves this year. From an "old boy that has seen them all, including a few regional type gatherings and even a couple of the old Clemens Rodcrafters seminars, I have to say there has

Rodmaker does have a lot of pretty pictures, but if that was all it was it would be one @#$%& of a waste of money. What makes it a bargain is the INFORMATION. Go to any rod building event or seminar put on by anyone and see what\'s being presented. Where did it come from.....Rodmaker magazine. Look on just about any rod building message board and read the topics and ideas. Where did they come fro

The FIRST thing you need to do is write an article on your new SUPER HOLOGRAPHIC wrap featured in the latest issue of Rodmakers. It blew me away.

58- The Showplace!!!!!!! Best location and nicest convention center possible. 59- Being able to see all the major epoxy makers and suppliers on the same day. 60- Being able to compare ALL the better rod lathes on the same day. 61- David Boyle and Visual Wrap. Be nice to see the inventor demo it in person.

Don't remember seeing the article telling you to use 5 minute type but it did say "quick set" if I remember right. I don't think you'll have enough time with the 5 minute variety to get things to work out. Better get something with a little more working time or your core and carbon might be headed for the trash.

Steve is right on about the "bite detection" thing. A rod that is balanced more towards the tip is more tiring to fish "tip up" but the fish can move it easier as the weight is on his end. Also a longer rod is easier for a fish to move because he now has a longer lever to use against you. He can and will exert more force on you. This is why saltwater stand up rods are so short

I certainly didn't take any shots at Mud Hole. Please don't read things into my post that are just not there. I asked a question and Tom answered it. That's all.

There was a post under this heading last week. I wondered then and wonder more now. My latest issue of Rodmaker mag arrived today and with it was packaged the new 2008 Mud Hole catalog. Odd? Why does Mud Hole rate having their magazine mailed with the mag or vice versa? What is not being told here and what is the relationship between the two if any? No offense to either party, I just wondered wha

Not complaining at all. Just asking. The way you break it down I can't argue that it's a good deal any way you cut it. Let's just call it the "ROD EXPO" and forget all the letters. Sounds better anyway.

Tom will you be sweetening the pot with any free hotel rooms or stuff at the ICBRE?

I was just poking fun! Seriously, I do wish you would move the show around each year. Maybe do an east coast, west coast, midwest rotation. I would think you could make just as much money no matter where you do it as long as it was a good convention town with good airports and good weather. How much difference could it make? What about Florida in the winter? California or Texas? Maybe two shows

108. rod expo
You know Tom if you used the same sort of voodoo math that some of the clubs do you could add up all the stuff that you give away at the rod expo and say that in the end you are actually paying each person about $200 to attend. LOL! Also thanks for the six free copies of Rodmaker I got with my subscription. What a deal!

Tom I was told by someone that you had started your own rod building organization a few years ago. Do you still operate it and how does a person learn more about it? Thanks.

Be prepared to see a few sparks! But pay them no mind and grind away. But keep in mind that other than Fuji and Amtak models, the other titaniums are just plating and not solid alloy. As far as I know they're aren't.

I confronted one of the guild officers about the false show numbers they're giving out. He did not apologize or make any excuses. I'd say that they know very well what they're doing and have no intention of giving out the correct information. The above post stating that they only had fifty rod builders at their own National Event sort of explains a lot about why they are giving out false infor

It wasn't my intent to cast doubt on the numbers, Tom. I only wanted to confirm the way you counted the builders. I was at the event and if you had told me that there were 2000 rod builders there I would have certainly believed it. The place was really packed with rod builders! It was a great event and much larger and educational than I had been led to believe it would be by some others. This

First off I very much enjoyed the rod show there in NC last month. I was wondering about the numbers of rod buiders who attended. Since this was a multiple day show were the builders who attended each day counted more than once? I attended both days so I wonder if I was counted as "two rod builders"? I got some conflicting information from someone else and just wonder if the figures
