Michal, I was building many spinning rods using fly blanks(9',10',w4,w5,w10) special for fishing with jigs.I am from Europe to and i like to fish with long rods(over10')from the bank. I am fishing with braid (4lb.-10lb.) +fluorocarbon leader and for majority of my spinning rods built by me the top guide are 2.5mm.inside diameter ( match guides model "M" ). In Houston is not realy winter.

I have built many spinning rod on fly blanks (9' and over)using micro guides SIC MATCH ,model "M" guides(long legs guides).Please take the Tom Kirkman advise. For on 10'4" spinning rod i was using just 6 guides, so if you use MATCH guides, model "M" you don't need 11 guides!!!! I was changing some SAGE( RPL,DS2,), G.LOOMIS IMX fly rods in spinning rods and i don't have problem to use my spinning reels DAIWA SS TOURNAMENT 700,1300 on these rods.

Is true i like to fish with light line,but not for some records,just for my plesure and to give the fish some chance.I am fishing on the bank just with artificials and most of the time with some long rods (over 10')build by me me on fly blanks+extension. I was fishing for over 10 years with braid +fluorocarbon line( XPS from BASS PRO and SEAGUAR CARBON PRO )and i never have problem .If the fish broke my leader was because i don't pay attencion making the knot ,or was scratch on the bottom.

I like to fish on the bank with artificials using long spinning rods built by me on fly blanks(9' +extension).I was catching many big trout(5 lb.-10lb.),40 inch red fish, with one rod built on ALL STAR AUSTIN fly blank 9' w10+extension using braid (4 lb.-10lb.)+fluorocarbon leader(6 lb.-15 lb.) and DAIWA WHISKER SS TOURNAMENT 1300 reel. One of the best reel(quality /price)for fresh and salt water is DAIWA SS TOURNAMENT.The size of SS TOURNAMENT what you need is SS1300 The reel have aluminium long cast spool,SIC "cut proof" line roller guide,very fine drag etc. I have fishing with SS TOURNAMENT 700,1300,1600 for over 10 years without problem using braid +fluorocarbon leader in fresh and salt water.Before i was fishi

Ben, I was catching a lot of speckled trout,flounder ,red fish,black drum without problem,using long rods build by me with guides model "M" SIC(the biggest guide size 16mm,,the smallest size 2mm.).If you read something about microguides you can see the advantage. I fish an the bank just with spinning reel(DAIWA SS TOURNAMENT),braid 4lb-10lb.+fluorocarbon leader (8-14lb.). HAPPY N

Sorry, i want to say you can use RAISHADOW RX8+ TRAVEL FLY BLANKS(4 sections ,fast) or RAINSHADOW RX7+(4 sections,med.-fast),RAINSHADOW RX8 TRAVEL(4 sections,extra-fast) I was building for me many rods on med-fast blanks ALL STAR AUSTIN,very good blanks ,but now you can't find this blanks.
