what I know [ very little ] the stripper guide is at least longe than you can reach when you are stripping line , this is so you can't grab the guide just a little beyond the tips of your fingers when holding the rod , but as you can see there can be a few inches differance in the distance, this is real inportant with a person with long arms , an not so to a person with short arms, my 2 cts

there are spine finders at most of the jobbers on the left , the spine is as the rods are made it will be thicker on one side then the other, will bend one way easy er than the other, the better the rod the harder to find , get the spine finder it is worth the money I think some buildesr don't use it at all an just build on the strightest line,

all the comments are good it all depends on you, find a rod builder near where you are an ask ? or ""You tube"" almost all the big supply sellers have videos, or DVD's also check this forum, do start with a cheep build ,remember the only question that is stupped is the one you don;t ask, lots of help here that would just like to help you out , do buy the low cost

call Mudhole , get bit outdoors, or Bingham Ent, they will have what you what you want some have catologes an some are on line only they all want to sell you what you want so they will talk to you , one even has a video DVD on how to build a rod, almost all names to the left will have what you want , some more than others the larger the dealer the more they will have in stock ,

just a note most RC plane shops have the wire in 3 FT sections , I used an old HACK SAW BLADE an a gude glued to the top an tape on the teeth edge [ so it will not cut my thread ]

after you apply the clear wrap on the clean cork use a hair dryer ah it will shrink down to a tight fit an keep the cork clean till you are finished the rod this is only applyed to the handle after it is finished , this is only to keep it clean only cheep shrink tubing for a part time builders to cut cornners an keep the handles clean

did you turn off the rod dryer befor the FLEX coat set up ???????? I did it one time,, set up a test dot for your testing spot on a pice of foil an test that spot frist to see if it is set up befor moving it off the dryer simple but a lot of new people don't do it [ I know I for one ] there will be some flex coat left in the cup when finished an use that for your test dot

single foot guides check the Library on how to lock the single foot down so they will stay on the rod it works great, helps to stablize the guides an helps prevents the guide from comimg out good luck

the rubberise cork will wear better than the ""BURNTCORK" , the burnt cork is cork that is glued all together just like any glued together pices of cork it is good but I have found out it is subjected to comming off in small pices, so use the rubberizsd cork on the ends of grip, with the burnt or multi color in the middle of the grip, an it will come out great I think but the

Office Depo an office Max has simmilar lights with the LEDs there could still be some old ones out there so look before you buy, these will not be on discount should be around $60 for the lamp an arms, & CLAMP PS it will have a pound light an no base it clamps on your table , work great, I have 2 I need all the light I can get I a old with bad eye sight

CORK IS SMOOTH AN LIGHT , cord is HEAVEY ER an ruff to hold , if you want light an smoth use cork even EVA grips will make my hand sore after e days hard fishing so my bet is cork on fly rod's if you do hard fishing all day

depends on the section of the country you live in as to the tubes you can get , the water pressure determings the thickness of the wall, not all pipe is available in all stores , you can try stores that have built in Vacums , there pipe is lower pressure , or some place that has water pipes for the farmer's fields [ low pressure ] electrical supply has some pipe check it ouy SID

just remember that the green color is not in the cork it is on the outside of the small sections of cork so it will fade from wear from what I have seen SID

you can do what you want, but SAGE marks the strightest part of the blank an that is how they build there rods, it works for them, I am a follower on some things, I would put the guides on the dot line , they are an excelent rod MFG. so why change? but you can, it is up to you, it is your rod, you will be the one to use it , if I am correct they even give you the guide spacing for all t
