if it is split or not that is the spot that my thunb rest most of the time , because of the way I hold the spinning rod , not becuuse of the handle if it is split or not

just like a fly rod long arms make a differance on distance from the reel [ handle ] when you use your hand to reach up for the line , the length of your arm counts to do a good job , not to say you can't use a short distance , but you will be a better at it if your frist guide is up pass where you can reach it I think SID

size of guides an the size of lime makes a bid differance an line slap on the rod , it changes the casting ability of the fly rod a lot, as the micro guides are small the line will rob a lot more, then the wire snake type I think

splin the top [ 2pice rod ] the under lay looks real good on rod' s , use the common cts on the left side of this page top , an you will have an excelent surf rod for a lot of years that looks good PS under lay for the guides will improve the looks a lot do the best you can , SID

if the lip is still to much for you do a second layer, to fill the lip in an put flex coat on, did you mesure the tip with tip messure then do the same on the tip top is see what your problem is it could be the tubes are not of the correct size or the blank is off work it out

lots of things you can do , as cork is flexable some what , so you can use a dril , to break one end an then work to the other end , don't try an do it all at one time , you will feel it move a little then move on to a different part of the grip, I use a vice to hols the threaded rod an work from one to the other end , if you try to break it all at one time you will do damage the cork handle ,

built handles my self , but I have purchest also from MUD HOLE they were very good I did not get the best so the cork had some small problems but not bad , if I purchest more grips I would give Mud hole my busness again , in the pass they have always treated me well , an fixer any problem that I had they made me glad I did busness with them , SID

why play around stay by volum as the MFG. has stated , all of the MFG. say use volum I just stay that way you can get syn, cheep an keep for a long time don't mix them up drill a hole in the top of bottle a little smaller than than the tip of the syn. leave the syn. in the bottle . as I am a small builder I have left it in for over 1 year an no problems

lots of different ways but what I do is what every one else said but I don''t set them up side down , had one of the syringes come out what a mess . I store with the syringes pointing up turn over an draw out what I need then back vertical with the bottles [ pointing up ] that way I don't need tubes to draw out the flex coat , takes a little longer but I am slow so it don't bug me only

you neaver said what temp you are at, it can cause problems , but from what you have said I would say the mix was not mesured correctly ,# 1 get it warm "" not HOT "" an see if that helps , #2 you might mix up a new coet an put it on top to see if that will help , use heat first just put in the sun for a few hours it should help a lot , SID

as I only do a few rods I don't keep much on hand , order all I need from a supplyer, they do great job , # 1 after I order they tell me just what the postage will be , if I don't like it I can cansel the order it is up to me to deside if I do the order or not , if sonthing is back ordered they work wirh me in all orders I don't like it but it is the cost or ordering over the web or phon

lots of people will chime in on this but # 1 you MIX your epoxy don't whipp it , # 2 when you aply your epoxy don't let the brush touch the rod let it kind of flow off the brush , # 3 don't run the brush back an forth , there will be some other ideas from other people , try them out some will work for you an some will not good luck SID

Just a little more info :: the motor stand is some time not true so you have to figure out where it points with a steel rod in it's jaws an make that also level . them work the rod level on the same plane with it , that will stop a lot of rods working its way out of the jaws when drying , even at that I put a big ball of loose fitting tape on my rod then clamp to it , that way you have

if the jaws center line is on the same plane as the ROD it should work an not slip out , to set up try a steel rod in the jaws an mesure the center line an go from there SID

to ballance the rod you have to move the reel , why not go with a all cork handle an use slip rings to hold the reel on so you can move the reel up or down to get the ballance point

I use one stripper on light FLY rodes an two on the heaver rodes , but it is your call , no clean cut deal , they all work it is just what you want BILL
