if I had a choise I would not use metallic thread , some times I have to , saying that I don't burnish it , will pack an use more epoxy to cover my 2 cts an how I do it

if you worry about tuffness of your cork the rubberize cork will wear the best , rubber holds the cork pices together , the BURNT cork or party color's is held todether by glue, the rubber will take the beating the best, I have found, not to say the partical cork [ party colors] is bad it is just not as tuff from my findings , not all rubberize cork is the same color some light bro

every one put there 2 cts in here I will put mine in also , get 2 small bottles 4 OZ type, an use them to work on the rods an save the large bottle as your supply point , un less you are doing many rods at one time , the 4 oz botles are much easyer to heat up , an when the little 4 oz goes dry then heat uo the 16 oz & transfur what you need don't mix the bottles up , the 4 oz bottles will

if you can find some one nearby you, talk to them & see if you can set in on there rod building, it will help you get started also I think there is a lot of info out there, MudHole has a DVD on rod bulding . also there is a lot of suppliers out there besides Mud hole , check the left side of this forum sheet , there is a group of shops listed there , don't get me wrong, I do about 95

if you have a fore grip on the rod, it will have to have an enlarged hole to fit over the weave or the larger BUTT section , you can fill it in with tape an epoxie but you will need a larger winding ckeck to cover the added space around the rod I think , it is your choice you are makeing it, SID

most craft stores have the cheep brushes by the 100 PK , also some big box stores have them in a large PK [ 100 ] the name begins with W [ it is in most towns I belive ] SID

we all have way's to cut cornners in doing things in life, but I have to save a lot to cut a corrner in building a rod I want it to last, I clean frist, ruff it up , an clean it again , it only takes a small bit of time to do it , this is what I do , it is over kill I know but it is my rod an I am not the best rod builder, I do the best job I can my 2 CTS

CHECK BACK ISUSES OF RODMAKER THIS FORUM IT COVERED HOW TO REPLACE RINGS OUT OF A HANDLE , The pit past works fine but if I here you correctly you have some big problems with mising cork on the handle, do it right the frist time it is easy , my 2 CTS.

use electrical tape lots of people do it , use slip rings , , use regular handles , they all work it all depends on what you want, just an idea , a lot depens on the fish you are fishing for , [ BIG < MED < SMALL ] ???? SID

there are tight regs. on cutting cork , after it is cut it will be a year before it is made into a unit that can be sold , not sure what you want, the better quality goes into rings for fishing rods, if you want rings with out holes try E bay , just look around , a little ,

Snake Brand snake guides are the best when you wrap the tip section it realy shines obove all other guides , you dont have to touch the guides no fileing the foot, the guides foot also matches the curve of the blank, the cost is a little bit more but you will never go back Anglers Work Shop did carry them ,

seeing that I don't have metal cans I just put the wipes out side to air out [ use open pan ] after it is aired out an no more smel & cured , I drop in the trash I don't put the wipes with fumes or liquid's into a closed area , it has to be open so the air can take the smell away an cure frist ,

the double foot guides will slow the rod down some compaired to the singe foot ones, on 8 WT rod it will be harder to feel it , but on a 3 or 4 WT you will see it an fee it, I feel from my limited building
