Congrats Mike......as a user of BPS reels that's like a win for the home team in my book. I know that was a knife between the ribs of some of the $400 per reel guys. Still though, a big determining factor is knowing your particular piece of equipment well. I would guess that you practiced enough with that one that it was an extension of your arm/hand/thumb.

I have tested his CP as well-I like it much better than the water based formulations I've used. Clear, fast drying and good color retention.

Agreeing with Bobby's original statement...build them the rod THEY want if they KNOW what they want. Guide them if they need it. Either way they will be back for more. When you have developed a relationship with a customer who is confident in your abilities they will often quickly tell you exactly what they want and then ask you just as quickly " What would you use?" 95

Rob-roll up some tape to put on the backside of the plate-- attach it to an old rod's grip and put it in your turner. Its shape won't matter..it will still level

It would seem that guide height would influence the effect. The shorter lever effect from using micro guides....would that require more weight to produce the same effect? Brad..did you use the same size guides as used in the magazine?

The folks at Decal Connection have a solution made to be used with peel and stick decals....allowing some movement to align. I would not try using a solution made for waterslides unless I had some spares to test with

Never used anything faster than 16-18 rpm and as slow as 3/4 rpm. All have worked well. I don't think any speed will negate the effects of having applied the wrong amount of finish

I don't see a need. I don't like wrapping 3" from the tip...sure as heck would not like it any closer.

Is it actually cork or are parts of it cork ? Is it actually "burnt"? It is obviously a composite.......if it is or portions of it are in fact cork how is it colored? I've used it as accent rings but have not turned it down in size very much. Does it hold up well when turned from normal ring size to say 1/2 that size?

The manufacturers are to be commended for listening. Those speaking to them the loudest deserve thanks. It is often observed that innovations in production rodbuilding are driven by ideas from the custom builders. This could be a sign that it doesn't take as long for the wagging tail to wiggle the dog as it used to.

Joe-like Roger said -subjective to an extent. You didn't mention if you are talking about a casting or spinning rod, wrap style, guide size, or rod action...all of which will have a bearing on the number used. He mentioned the "length +1" method...that's a good place to start. Some testing then is in order. Proper blank loading is the greatest concern. With that in mind-when you g

Ryan-Bobby answered your question about lure weight...it won't matter. You did not mention line choice-if you are using mono or braid straight to the lure and have no knots to pass then anything under a 5 ring should work. He recommended a non-modified tip-good idea I think for powerful fish like muskies. That's about the best we can do knowing what you have told us.

Duane-It sounds like you suspect that the small guides will be a problem-not that you have actually found them to be.

As far as durability goes...the small profile of the micros seems to keep them out of harm's way......."hiding" behind the blank. After using the micros those big ol' 6s and 8s (heaven forbid) just seem to get hung on everything.

Mo...... As mentioned.....adhesion and flexibility will be problems to overcome. Spray on truck bed liner came to mind as a relatively inexpensive product to try,,,,,,,comes in colors...recoating as necessary wouldn't be much trouble. I believe it is polyurethane... the spray on has a lower grit level than the brush on. Chris

I would think that contact points during retrieve not nearly as important (if important at all) as how set up works with the line moving in the other direction. Logic tells me that if for some reason you wanted the line to touch the butt guide full circle it would have to be moved rearward a considerable distance-adversely effecting casting distance.

Joe...when I have put a grip over a finished wrap-it does look nice to have it disappear under the grip-I have tipped my cork grip with 1/2" or so of EVA so you will have some stretch where you need it. It has a decorative effect and adds a measure of durability to the part of the grip most likely to be damaged. The cork part can be reamed large enough to go over the wrap easily..a little

Charles...I can't imagine that not being fine as long as you follow the old rule...stop before you get to the thread! Might clean it up well with soap and water before starting, rinsing well and drying afterward.

Lou..another option is the under-spin type of spin cast reel. That design does away with top heaviness of coventional spin casters.
