And # 3. I think it makes a much nicer looking wrap. That might just be me. If your under 100k in receipts per year and don't need the very small advantages that the Corp. creates. Do it as a Sole Proprietor. If it starts making $$ you can always move it over to any entity that you want.

The notice/explanation may show up in a few days. They don't normally send the check and the explanation in the same envelope.

Four hundred or more of profit on a Schedule C requires a Schedule SE to pay Self-Employment Tax. You may also need a Form 4562 for if you have any depreciable assets.

Along with the $ 20 electronic calipers, a $ 3 drill bit sizing tool/gage works for me. Erik

I just started using silk and I like it. I found it easy to work with. I like the thread size options and I really like the way it absorbs the finish. With no CP, the wraps look like they were poured on.

I removed a guide on a blank that I'm building up and the paint on the blank came off as well. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks

I think George is assuming that you have metal ferrules and not glass or graphite when he talks about putting the female ferrule in a chuck. Erik

Income from bartering/trading is taxable income. Keeping it simple. say you have $ 400 in materials and expenses in a rod and you trade it for a trip worth $ 1,000. You have taxable income of $ 600 it's also subject to Self-employment tax. Erik

I'm looking to build up a few inexpensive ~ 9' 6-8 wt. sticks for a few friends of mine to learn how to fly fish for Bones here in Hawaii. I'm guessing that beginners and weighted flies are going to be hard on tips. Any suggestions? Thanks, Erik

And if your net income per your Schedule C is $ 400 or greater you'll need to file a Schedule SE to report your Self-Employment tax.

6/0 < 4/0 < #100 < #50 ~ = size A. 6/0 is very small diameter thread.

Roger, I've reamed out several grips with just round files and my holes have been centered enough that you could not notice when the grip was attached. Start with a file smaller than the hole in the cork. Move the file in and out 5 times on the bottom side of the hole in the cork and then rotate the cork a little and move the file in and out again five times on the bottom side of the cork. Ke

Thanks guys. I'm trying to duplicate what some of the bamboo guys do with silk. A nice clear translucent wrap with a single wrap of darker thread in the center. My concerns are that picking up another thread will show the tag ends if I'm not using CP to keep them from showing. Thanks again, Erik

I have searched and didn't find anything regarding coloring a wrap of thread with a color marker to inlay a single wrap of a different color into a wrapping. I plan on using Guderod nylon Garnet without CP. It's for a saltwater fly rod so I really don't want to use silk. Will the nylon thread absorb the ink from a marker pen? Will it bleed from the epoxy finish? Thanks, Erik

The fly rods would come in handy as there is some Bonefish fishing here. The guys that fish from shore use big spinning and casting rods, rods that will throw up to 6 ounces of lead. Send me an email if you like. I'm on Oahu. Erik

J.C., Sorry I can't help more. I just forwarded the info that I had received from Dan when I purchased my last blank. Although, I would start with this. As the rest seem to be for the Sig III models. 9’0” 4pc 4.75”, 9.75”, 15”, 21”, 28.25”, 36.5”, 44.5”, 53.5”, 64”, 76” Erik I sent you another email.

Thanks Tony. It is the smaller Esopus and some weight will be removed if I ream it to fit the blank. From what I understand, most people like the blank as a 3wt.. Erik

I'm building up a Dan Craft 8' 2wt for my brother and would appreciate some input on reel seats. I have a Venneri Esopus but it's heavy. It weighs about 1.361 oz or 38.63 grams. I'm considering a REC PLRN which as of yet, I don't have. Does anybody know roughly what the PLRN reel seat weighs? Will the weight of the Venneri reel make a noticeable difference on the finished rod? Thanks, Erik
