Broken Rods: I removed guides and Tip Top and thats all. However if the blank was not broken, remove the reel seats, I just use a dremel tool to remove it. Remove foregrip, handle and guides. And install new everything, based on condition of blank!

Suggestion: working wit the mcro guide, I throw a white (old) sheet on the floor due to the rug in my room. The eyes sometimes pop out and hard to find! This will help most of the time.

Found this from a old post! I have tried it and just think its great. However, you might want to have something white or light colored under your work station, for those micro guides will pop off or you will drop them. I have tried it with standard guides also and it works fine.
"micros are by far the EASIEST guides to wrap!
instead of fussing with tape, glue, zip ties, whatever

Not sure of the condition of the entire cork handle, I would remove all the handle, eyes and replace the cork handle with no forgrip and spiral wrap the eyes. Where the foregrip went you could build a ramp. Plenty of help on the site reference building ramps. For the most part I remove the fore grip on my bait casters and build a ramp. Give me place to place my finger on the blank

I am trying to do a butt wrap for the first time and my questions is when applying the thread how tight should it be? I have had some of the threads puff up and some come loose. Seems like when I do the packing, end up loosening one or two threads. Also, when should I pack the threads? Any tips on this would truly be appreciated!

when I do a spiral wrap the first guide/butt guide from what I have read you can either start left/right or almost straight. Question: For instance if the butt guide goes left so many degrees and put the next one or two to the right? Or if I go right with the butt guide so many degrees and the next one or two go to the left? Pro's and Cons. Thanks.

Just this past sunday a friend and I built a couple of spinning rod handles and used rod bond with no problem. I just eyed balled the two ingredients. Just made sure they were truly mixed well. Temp outside was in the 40 to 50 range. We ensured that the garage temp was close to 70 degree.. First time I have tried it. thanks.

16 mm would be closer than 17 mm. 16 mm equals .62992. Not quite sure but if you can get a 15 mm equals .59055. you might be able to bore it out to fit and perhaps you wouldnt need arbors or tape etc. just my 2cts

What you are seeing I dont believe is Japanese. However, when you open the web site and scroll down to the bottom and double click on the very bottom of the three, then right click and you should have a choice to import to EXcel. If you do the import, there will be some english and japanese break out data on the lathe.

One comment on the guides. I am truly a rookie at building rods, however when I attached my thread on the blank and after about 5 wraps attempted to run the thread upon the leg of the guide I seemed to have a hard time. The thread kept on slipping off. I had to go way up on the leg with several wraps and then slowly push the threads toward the end of the leg to keep the thread on the l

I just finished a 6' 10" drop shot spinning rod using recoil guides. I have not fished it as of yet. Plan on doing so this week-end. The rod is extremely light. Believe it will truly perform well on the water.

BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT. HOWEVER SEEMS LIKE EVERYTIME IT HAS HAPPENED, WAS BECAUSE I DONT SEEM TO GET RATIO OF MIXTURE CORRECT. WHAT I DO IS START OVER BY REMOVING THE GUIDE AND START OVER FROM STEP 1! BY THE WAY PUT ANOTHER COAT ON A SPINNING ROD LAST NIGHT AT ABOUT 21:00 HRS AND WHEN I GOT UP THIS MORNING 05:30 IT WAS NOT TACKY. MUST BE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT!
