Holding guides in place.

Just a little tip a fellow rod builder told me that I thought I'd pass on. If you know anyone who wears braces, the little rubber bands they give them to wear are perfect for holding guides in place. If you don't know anyone who wears them just ask the dentist next time you go in and they'll be glad to give you some. They are thin as heck and super strong. Like I said, just thought I'd pass it on.

You can also use surgical tubing to do the same thing. JUst cut off little bands. 2' lasts a long time.

I looked up those rubber dental bands--wow cheap but I found batches of 5000 in latex and non latex neon colors etc--they even come in various strengths and sizes. I need to go to the dentist and see if he has any. I think I would prefer these to the surgical tubing I now use.

Found this from a old post! I have tried it and just think its great. However, you might want to have something white or light colored under your work station, for those micro guides will pop off or you will drop them. I have tried it with standard guides also and it works fine.

"micros are by far the EASIEST guides to wrap!

instead of fussing with tape, glue, zip ties, whatever - simply start with 6-8 thread wraps then place the tip of the guide foot under the last loop of thread (like you would wrap in a trim band or pull-through loop). The guide foot should be on top of about 2-4 wraps and underneath one wrap. The guides are so light/small the single wrap will hold it in place. Wrap about 6 or 7 more times toward the ring (the tip of the foot will still be sticking out), then gently pull the guide toward the rod tip. the foot will slip past the wraps it was on top off and you will never know you didn't ramp up the guide like you normally do. Continue wraping and finish with a locking wrap as usual and you're done."

Bobby Feazel post that recently and I found that I even use it on bigger fly type guides. Amazingly simple and works great!!
