Hi, I'm looking for an 8ft fly rod blank for smallmouth bass fishing in a big creek. There are to many over hanging limbs for anything longer, I've been using a 7wt. St. Croix Mojo Bass fly rod that works fine but I want to build one as I prefer to use rods that I have built. The only fly blank I can find in 8ft that might fit what I'm looking for is the Sage Bass II blanks but I don't know which

A friend has asked me to replace a guide on a St. Croix fly rod, He only gave me the tip section and didn't remember what model rod it is and I can't get a hold of him right now to find out which model fly rod it is and I would like to order the guide as soon as posible, all I know is that it's a 9' 8/9 wt. and it's a brown blank with dark brown wraps, he said he has had the rod a long time. The

Check out Phenix blanks, they have 2 7'6" blanks in their Ultra MBX Spinning line. I have the UMBX-S706M built as a casting rod that I use as my main drop shot rod and I love it, they also have UMBX-S706MH which I'd like to try.

Thanks, I kind of figured that out the hard way, not to hard to mess up the edges while cutting the decal out, I had to trim off one edge where it delaminated so wrapping over it would probably be a bad idea. thanks again.

I finally got my printer settings right and printed a Holographic decal and now I'm ready to apply it, will it hurt to wrap over the ends of it to help hold it in place. I read the article about 5 time and don't recall seeing it mentioned and need to know if it's a no no or not. Thanks for any help.

Have any of you tried using rubber bands with a short piece of a small straw to hold the rubber band in place. I'm pretty sure somebody posted it on here a couple of years ago but I couldn't find the old post. I'm building my first micro rod and had to get smaller rubber bands and a smaller straw, I think the straws are actually for stiring coffee but they work for me. I posted a few photos so yo

Scott, I add the spinning guide to all my flipping sticks, I put the guide about 5 inches in front of my reel and the line no longer gets wrapped around the reel handle. I posted a photo of one if your interested in how it looks.

The only blank I can think of is the ATC II MB 703-X 1/4 - 1oz lures. It's a 7 foot rod but I don't know what it's collapsed length is, I have a Shikari MB 762-X which is 7'6" extended and 6 feet 1/2 inch collapsed, I don't know if ATC changed anything about these blanks after they bought Shikari out or not. St. Croix use to make a 6'10" tel. blank but I don't see it listed on their web

Why not use a live bait blank and a spinning reel with a bait runner feature built in so you don't have to loosen your drag like that. ATC makes a couple of 7'6" live bait blanks and Lamiglas makes 7' to 9 foot live bait blanks, I'm not sure but a popping blank might work also.

Roy, if you have a Brother P-Touch 2600 label printer it should have come with a USB cable so you can hook it up to your computer. I use 1/2" TZ tape to make my labels. I use cp to seal the label before I put finish on, so far I have only had one that lifted from separation and that was my fault, I didn't make a clean cut on one corner when I trimmed it. The labels look pretty good but you c

I have a Seeker CLB 702 that I built to catch catfish with. A friend was checking it out and likes the soft tip section but wanted to know if the rod will handle 5 & 6 oz. sinkers for bottom fishing or will he need to step up to the CLB 704 and if so how much stiffer will the tip section be. Thanks for any info.

I have used quite a few labels made with a Bother P-touch label maker and all I do is trim them with scissors making sure to round the corners off, after I put it on and use the roller on it I coat the whole label with CP and haven't had any problems so far. I've been using the Diamondite CP, I don't know if that makes any difference or not but I haven't tried any of the other brands.

The Flex Coat DVD has a segment on using the 200 RPM finishing machine. When I was using my power wrapper I turned the speed control to a lower setting so the rod wouldn't turn to fast. Like said above 200 RPM's is not that fast, I'm now using a 100 RPM motor with the Flex Coat slip clutch, it works all right but I would prefer some thing a little faster.

Thanks Tim, so what your saying is to use extra rod bond so that it fills the gaps between the ribs?

Hi guys, long time reader but have only posted a couple of times. I find the anwsers to most of my questions by doing a search. Now for my question, have any of you used the Fuji ACS reel seat yet. I just got one to try, it has narrow fins or ridges running though it, doesn't look like much contact area for glueing it to the blank. I would like to know if I need to do anything different when glu

I've used some of your components, guides and reel seats and 1 blank (RX7 ISB822.5) that I like a lot. I use your textured blank exposed trigger reel seats on most of my casting rods but how about one designed after the RF Light reel seat, I think that would be nice.

Hi guys, I just posted a photo of a label I made using a brother P-touch 2600 label printer. I think they look alright for my own use but if I were building a rod for a friend I would order one from decal connection. With the 2600 you can use Photo Shop or which ever photo editing software you like to design your label, that way you get a lot more choices in fonts and font sizes.
