My Dad's first Micro spinning rod fish. He wasn't at all excited yesterday when I gave him the rod, but he hooked this after a couple of cast. He wants me to take back all his other rods & build him all micros. Caught on SJ722 w/10lb Vanish.

It is so important to be careful while removing the top throw away thread. While attempting to spin off the thread you can see several mistakes that would not have been there if I had taken my time. I remember Scott saying that you can spin off the throw away thread if you do it right. I'm not there yet and pretty certain that I will not attempt it again. Have to slow down.

3rd matching rod for customer. It's getting much easier to either eliminate or add stripes, bullseyes, etc. This one is really nice to look at.

Same rod, different side. In person, it is just a blow away look, continually changing in the light and as it is turned.

It looks way better in person, but these are my first ones and they really look cool. So many possibilities. I sure hope more folks start posting theirs

after failing to find a hook keeper I wanted. Made one from a paper clip. OK to laugh, but it works great.

Although I'm not sure how well it will hold up, it really looks nice in the light. Duplicolor lacquer & 10 coats of clear. Reel seat cut down.

I believe that the smallest line size you can get is 15lb in Berkley Fireline Braid. The 50lb would be the most logical choice since it is the same as the 12lb diameter. This line is available & in stock in every retailer I checked with. BassPro, Cabelas, Tackle Warehouse by Bassfan, Land Big Fish. There are many other bass fishing shops that will also carry it. Toledo Tackle on Toledo Bend,

However, few rod builders know how to look at a break and recognize the tell-tale signs that identify one break from another. Each type of break leaves its own tell-

Karen, will you have a Mag-Bass 943 & a 944 to compliment the 941. The longer blanks are sure popular where I live.

Cody, I used black nylon, the vinyl does not let the thread underneath show.

Duane, I went ahead and tried it anyways & got good results. I put the second coat on this morning & you cannot tell that I simply applied the vinyl to the thread only. I maybe got lucky & wont make it a regular thing to do.
Thanks everyone,
Jeff

Mike, the vinyl material is extremely thick in comparison to other decal mediums. It requires me to apply two coats of finish. Since I'm going to apply the vinyl over thread, I was curious to see if anyone had skipped the the first coat over the thread only. The present finish I use is low build & I have no issues with it & will continue to use it.

Your second choice is probably the safest approach. I use metallics & apply the first of finish & then cut the fuzzies off.

Has anyone attempted to apply a vinyl decal to bare thread & then apply your finish & how did it turn out?
Thanks,

Adam, that 3C68MXF blank from St. Croix is one of the best blanks on the planet. I would think you could find for under a $100. It's well worth the money & if you are going to use it much, you'll be soooo glad you spent the extra.

I just don't know what I'm going to do. I've promised customers these Eeeeelectric Deeecals & now you tell me I got to pay more. This is beginning to sound like part of that Ponzi scheme you see on the news. I guess I better filll in the holes I drilled in my own rods for the wires & batteries. And now on top of everything, you tell me King Billy is somehow inter-twined in this pyramid sc

I just knew this was one of those " if it sounds to good to be true, it is" scams that was going around. It's going to take me at least 6 months to save the additional money. I sure hope you don't go and raise the price by then.

I was hoping it was an all in one type kit. This is kind of like buying a toy, tool, radio & not getting any batteries. Bill, have you seen that man's "lost Notebook" in an earlier post?

Lance, I got the paper, but how do I get the electrification kit? How long does a charge last?
