The rules for the ICRBE casting competition state that you will be supplying the line for all competitors, but what about the weights to be cast? Everyone knows that different lures can behave drastically different even though they weigh the same. It would seem like simple bell sinkers or even better the clip on drop shot weights would be simple enough to supply so everyone is working with the same thing, eliminating one variable that really doesn’t have anything to do with the rod.
If the weights are open for development I am even more glad I work for a turbocharger manufacturer, we have some of the worlds leading experts in high speed rotor dynamics and if need be PHD aerodynamicists… Re: Casting competition rules

A 3/8th ounce casting plug will be standard for all contestants. You can buy them at Bass Pro Shop or Cabelas.

Great, now we know more about what to build. For potential builders you should get one of these to do your testing with, the last one of those I had didn’t weigh anything close to 3/8 of an ounce so it may affect what you intend to build… Re: Casting competition rules

That's a good idea - weigh the plug, because the ones we'll have will be weighed to ensure they're exact. They're hard rubber and tear-drop in shape. The line attaches to the small end.

I am banking on the magazine description of the braid Birkley line as being 50 # Braid with an equivalent diameter of 12# monofilament. I hope Tom has leaned on Berkley to provide the expensive line - it is short on shelves at present on retailers shelves in 100 yd spools and the 1,500 yd spools are presently on backorder. I believe that the smallest line size you can get is 15lb in Berkley Fireline Braid. The 50lb would be the most logical choice since it is the same as the 12lb diameter. This line is available & in stock in every retailer I checked with. BassPro, Cabelas, Tackle Warehouse by Bassfan, Land Big Fish. There are many other bass fishing shops that will also carry it. Toledo Tackle on Toledo Bend, Ann's Tackle on Sam Rayburn, & Falcon Lake & Tackle will most likely carry the line Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
