There has not been an official US release. If you are interested, we can get guides in for you. We do have some US based customers currently using them. I'll drop you an email. Thanks!

You won't have that issue with Kigan tops as they are braised on the sides of the tube. No need for a spinning design or casting... works with both.

Based on the OEM purchase of "micro" guides.... I disagree. But what do I know... we only sell the guides. I guess they could be thrown in the trash can and not put on rods.

The days of one good guide company are really over. There are several good options actually. Just being biased, I think you will find that Kigan is also a very formidable brand - now used on St Croix, Dobyns, Kistler, ALX Rods, Airrus, Greys, Hardy, Harrison, Loop, and several other smaller manufacturers/brands. It says a lot when Kigan is the guide of choice on St Croix's top end saltwater ro

Check out the Hydra SJ812-NG. It's the same power used for the ALX Rods ZOLO SpeedFury - which was specifically designed for weightless flukes. It's a dominant pattern on Murray, Clarks Hill, Russell, Hartwell, Lanier, and any other lakes with a strong herring population. You won't be disappointed. Feel free to contact me if you have questions. It throws a single fluke, double fluke, and

Thanks Joe. If you got the cores we poured in tubes, yes because the material creates a skin that is tough. Once you get past that, it was easy. We no longer offer them though. We're too busy building finished rods these days, and as crazy as it sounds... rods are no where near as labor intensive as the grips were. Not saying we won't do it again, but we simply had to make some business decis

Considering the vast majority of production rods on the market have aluminum oxide rings - and have no issues - I have a really hard time putting our customers in higher priced guide rings unless they just want something real specific. I guess I am a bad salesman, but I'd rather you be able to afford guides for 4 rods than only one set. I agree with Geoff - never seen a grooved ceramic guide

Bill - I would go with a 10" grip on a 7' rod. This would be from butt to the back edge of the reel seat. A lot depends on the type of worms you are throwing. If you are throwing a trick worm, you'll need a lighter tip, and a spinning rod would let you move to a little stiffer rod. If you are throwing a 5" senko, you're going to be ok with a 1/4 - 3/4 oz lure weight mag bass blan

Personally I would consider omitting the ZDH5.5 just. because I think you will get a weird angle. The ZDh5 and the ZD5s will spiral the same way any guide would. There is nothing different that would cause them not to work. The ZD 5 may be a better all around choice and would do well. Actually I think you would really like the low profile they offer. They certainly would do much better than sing

The most advanced casting set up available is with Kigan's Z series. Hydra worked directly with Kigan to develop the stripper and 2nd guide to compensate for line height off the reel and not having to do it by using a larger ring size. St Croix recently implemented the entire train on the Avid X series with rave reviews (ZDH5.5, ZDH5, ZD5). We use a modified version with the 2nd guide as the

Russell - Couple suggestions on the terminal set up - 10# braid with a fluorocarbon leader. The braid will cut through hydrilla if you get a fish on in it. The fluoro will eliminate spooking the fish. 4-5' leader length. Hook - I'd go with a light wire, straight shank, snelled hook. The lighter leader wil also break off easy if you get hung in the rocks. Blank - I'd look at something lik

Check out the Hydra Frog blank as well. Designed by tournament fishermen to specifically address both walking and popping frogs. Blank is US made and comes in right about 2.35oz on average. Its also outstanding for swimjigs and chatterbaits.

Hydra MB814-NG 1/4 – 1 oz Lure | 10 – 17# Line General Purpose Use It's the same power Hydra NG used by jerkbait expert and Elite Series Pro Kelley Jaye. Kelley uses the ALX Rods Deputy which is the 7'1" version. He's using this for larger jerkbaits. It saw heavy use and took him to #6 at Toho in the Open a couple weeks ago.

Mo - I assume you mean this video: Thanks for the attention on 5G. It's a unique approach to the perfect guide train. Typically Kigan is pretty accurate in claims as the industry overall doesn't tolerate a lot of @#$%& like it used to. Anyway, the guides are not available here in the US at this time although we do have some test sets out with our pro staffers. They are being phased in

Building on Tom's advertising comment - branding. Brand your business. Create a brand image and STICK TO IT. Sometimes brands end up being more valuable than the product itself. There are great examples of this all over the sports fishing industry.

There's benefit in using a guide with the correct height because it gives a straighter line path due to the raised height. When comparing a 6DF and a Kigan ZDH5, the top of the guide is about the same. Consider using a guide specifically designed for the application. Guide layout download: Using the ZDH5 and then the ZD5 (omitting the ZDH5.5) is proving to be a very successful guide train
