Im looking into a couple different blank options for my jext shaky head rod build and was hoping to get some opinions. I was looking at annRainshadow Rx8 822.75 or something in Phenix or Lamiglass. All within the 3 power range. This rod will have either Tidal Wave Guides or Alps titanium spinning guides. Thanks in advance Re: shaky head rod blank options

Hi Chris,
Some might say that the 822.5 is probably the most popular shaky head blank on the market. I think you will be very happy with the way it performs. Tight Lines and Bull's-eyes, Get Bit Outdoors 407-542-7840 www.GetBitOutdoors.com www.facebook.com/GetBitOutdoors Re: shaky head rod blank options

Other blanks to look at are the bushido's by American tackle. There mag bass MB73/8-15 makes a great shakey head blank. Very sensitive, with the microwaves is a match made in heaven. Re: shaky head rod blank options

IMHO 822.5 doesn't have the backbone unless using light wire, exposed hooks. _________________________________________ "Angling is extremely time consuming. I like the RX8+S823 for shaky head and light T-rigs better as it has just a bit more power from the tip to the butt. Once you start using 1/4oz.+ of lead, then I move up to a 3 power mag bass type blank.
The 822.5 is a great choice if you want a one rod does it all for finesse applications, but the 822.5 and 823 compliment each other well, and I use both regularly. Joe Re: shaky head rod blank options

I'm actually looking at the 802.75 for that reason in the Rx8. More in the tail end. I have a 822.5 in the Rev that I built and frankly is a better DS rod than a shaky or wacky worm rig. I like a little more in the tail end for a shakin rod. I like big butts and I can not lie. Re: shaky head rod blank options

Chris,
I think the 802.75 will probably give you what you want, and should compliment your 822.5 well. Joe Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
