Hydra announces representation of long standing US rod manufacturer (Aiken, SC) Hydra Fishing, LLC is proud to announce representation of US fishing rod manufacturer Rebrod, Inc of Flippin, AR. Rebrod’s product offerings include US manufactured rod blanks and private label finished rods. Rebrod is one of the oldest US rod makers supplying the OEM and retail market with rods since 1976. â€

Bob - there really isn't a standard distance. That distance is usually whatever is left from placing the total handle length. It's also going to change based on the grip pieces you use. We use 3, 3.25, 3.5 and 4" grips on the same handle length, so every one is the same handle length, but the exposed blank section is different. Hope that makes sense. Best thing I can say - figure out how

We are excited to announce that the Kigan 3D Guide now holds US Patent 8,333,030 The patent is for "Fishing line guide for fishing rod and method for manufacturing the same" so it pertains to both the guide and the method in which the guide is manufactured. Patent was approved Dec 18, 2012. It's been a several year process, but we are very excited to finally have the approved

All those blanks you mentioned are absolutely great. Personally we believe the best US blanks out there in terms of sensitivity are our US Made Hydra Ng Series. We've intergrated a Scrimless Fiber Design (SFD) completely through the blank that eliminates performance robbing materials. You're going to be pushed to find a lighter blank in a equal power (measured on a flex board - not manf. ratings

You will need 2 male and 2 female. Make it easier, put a male/female on dryer lead, male female on the foot lead. The other added perk of this is you can disconnect the foot, connect the pos/neg on the dryer side, and operate the dryer using the switch only (basically you are cutting the foot off the loop). Makes doing rod finish a lot faster and easier. You flip the switch and the rod turns.

John, Since things were being questioned overall regarding vagueness (which I agree is rampant in the industry), I wanted to be forthright and clear what the update was since it would have only shown as "Edited 1 Time(s)". If I am wrong regarding alloy staus, I'll update immediately. I want to be sure accurate information is readily available. I apologize if I caused confusion by th

John, Solid is primarily in reference to Phil's question regarding plating. Some items I do have to say "can't share that" for competitive reasons. If you choose not to believe, I'd ask that you challenge all of our competitors to the same question first. I will go back and verify we use an alloy and not pure Ti. I'll also see if there are deeper specifics I can share. Please

Phil. I sense some trepidation regarding our products and I will guess there is a lack of research and experience in the products prior to the assumptions/generalizations put forth. This really opens a great opportunity to talk about them and get the correct facts out there. All in all, it's quite different than your comparison of "pretty much the same as the difference between a gold r

Phil - I'm not sure if your reference to Ti vs. Ti coating is in reference to Kigan or in general, but it brings up a great opportunity for clarification. Kigan Ti guides are manufactured using titanium. They are not Ti coated stainless. We do offer a plasma ion coated Ti frame. Is this needed? No. However our OEM customers have requested options and our Gunsmoke coating over Ti offers somethi

Just wanted to throw out a quick note that everyone's XLA samples have shipped. If you haven't received yours, it should come next week. Everyone who signed up and those already on our list received a sample. Also, our website will be going down for maintenance over the holidays. Hopefully, if all goes right, you'll see a revised website with a full listing of all our products and services. Ou

Dennis, Thanks for the email and post. I'll email pricing shortly. Availability is by special order at this time. Swampland and Bingham Enterprises can fulfill those orders as both are Hydra/Kigan dealers. We're very excited about our Titanium Zero Tangle guides that offer zero inference in the larger sizes. We currently have a guide failure rating of 1 of 1000 across all of our guide model

Thanks for the compliments and interest. It's a small part but really represents the path we're taking - not so much flash, but good solid answers to rodbuilding needs. We've had a great response. Expect to see them next week. We're going to wait until a bulk of the responses are in and then mass mail. Thanks again!!!

All attendees at the Tri States, Chicago, and Ohio gatherings hopefullyreceived a sample of our new hookkeeper made by Kigan. We are excited to unveil it in a more formal fashion to rodbuilers. We here at Hydra designed this last year for Kigan after seeing no real "great" hookkeeper solutions and being frustrated with the hookkeepers available today - and being tired of constantly bend

Dont use something with chlorine. It will react with the metal. One of the great things about Kigan guides - I never prep feet even with size A thread.

This month Bass Angler Magazine features an article regarding the theraputic impact of rodbuilding for custom rodbuilder Rich Redmon of R2 Rods, an Iraq war vet suffering from PTSD. We are grateful to Rich for his service both past and present. We're also incredibly honored to have him list Hydra rod blanks and Kigan guides as his components of choice. Simply put - Thank you. I agree with Jim. If you are selling parts, charge for parts. If you are selling a rod, charge for the rod. A nonrefundable deposit of 50% of the total purchase price is not unreasonable. 50% should cover your parts. If you need help pricing, we have a pricing sheet uploaded that factors all the parts of a build:

Ken - Do you do repairs? Everytime one comes in the shop, measure it by your various methods you need to match later on. Everytime you order a blank to build on, measure it. Then measure it for the changes that occur after it's built. It's not going to give you everything, but it does start building you a database of info for future reference.

Thanks Jim for putting the Hydra rod blanks in such elite company. That's a real honor. Yes they are a little more, but they are manufactured here in the US which gives us a ton of advantages over mass import options. The next 6 months will be really exciting for Hydra as we increase the blank line up for a robust offering and reveal some of the things we're doing different to make some of the

Larry - Dobyns does use Kigan guides on various builds. You can find out more information regarding the guides here: and then we have a page for each style of guide. Swampland currently stocks a wide variety of Kigan guides and has them in stock. Stay tuned... you're going to be hearing much more about these great guides in the near future.

In conjunction with ICast would be difficult... you have several companies attending the ICRBE who would not have the ability to run displays at both venues concurrently. Looking forward to hearing the updates!
