Not for the grass on Guntersville. A rigged senko weighs .4 oz (and more if he's using a superline hook) so that's more than enough weight to have good casts with a rod blank better suited for grass mats. As long as he has a smooth spool and doesn't load up on the reel brakes, he'll be ok. When he gets a donkey tied up in 10# of grass, he's going to wish he had a Hydra FL904. And I'd recommen

BT842DS: 4 – 10# Line | 1/8 – 3/8 oz Lure | 1.6oz Perfect for drop shots, small vertical spoons - light line and small baits. The basic design premise is to protect light test lines under load. Don’t expect to muscle in a fish, but you’ll feel the lightest bites and correctly fish the smallest lures. A true finesse technique rod blank, the BT842DS is needed when that bite is ultra tough and th

If they didn't I would personally be in a world of hurt. 80% of my deck is spooled with braid. They do great with monofilament and fluorocarbon lines too

If you are ok with a 9', we've got one left on clearance from a private label run we did - - $60, Made in USA. Got some really nice cork on sale and reel seats to match it as well - I can also see if we can run one for you, but it will take a couple weeks to be produced. We're working on fly blanks now, so it will be a little bit.

Kigan. I RARELY prep guide feet and use size A. Occasionally on a 30 or 25 spinning, but not much other than that. Never on running guides.

jeff vanek Wrote: > Same guide train specs if your going to do a > spiral wrap with micros? Jeff - Great question. The guides were designed for a traditional, on top build. I personally haven't tried them in a spiral configuration. I'd lean toward eliminating the ZDH5.5 and just starting with the ZDH5. That will be something I put on the "check it out" plate.

You sure can, but one thing you will run into is a terrible line path, which I suspect is why Steve suggests a 5 or 6mm stripper. The line from the face of the casting reel will go down at angle X, then turn towards the tip, running along the blank. This change in line direction could impact line flow and casting distance. This is one of the reasons Hydra helped design the new ZDH (Zero tangle

Saw the Hydra name mentioned here a couple times. Thank you. We're not big, but our NG blanks are made in the US, they are reasonably priced, and they do offer unique technology with scrimless fiber. I really don't see why in a higher priced blank, when you need sensitivity, why you would ever want fiberglass scrim, or scrim period, in the rod when it can be done without. So that is the uniqu

We have a tackle shop we've built a bunch of rods for (private label). They sold a load of L&T rods previously and asked us to match up the powers/actions on some blanks, with a few changes. Drop me an email with what models and I'll see if I can help you with something in the Hydra lineup that compares favorably. Alex

Patches are pretty much a thing of the past. A few may have some still available. You'll want to contact them directly though. Most fishing jerseys today are dye sublimated performance material. Far better than a shirt weighed down with sewn on patches. The images are "printed" onto the jersey. I suspect a lot of the vendors who have actual logos (not just written name) will alrea

Bill - Yes, moving it closer to the reel will help negate hang ups. I'll also use this as a plug for our hook keeper. Line hanging up was one of the key things we went for when designing the XLA Hookkeeper for Kigan. It allows the use of an open style hanger in front of the reel. They are in stock at Bingham, Merrick, and Swampland. The flared design helps shed line and with

As long as you support the drum portion externally - meaning no weight on the motor shaft - rotisserie motors can work really well for light duty use.

Ken is partially correct and Thomas is completely correct. We currently have a ceramic ring with a triangle insert. We had a big poster of it and a demo rod at the Expo. The guides are currently featured on Airrus Rods. The concept behind the ring is a reduction in friction and channeling of the line. We recommend the first two guides from the reel to have these rings. You will be hearing more

I have to say I am truly humbled again after another great Expo. Last year was great, but the amount of interest in our blanks and guides was way more than expected. Tom asked on Sunday - "How'd you do?" My response was "well, we'll know in the next few months since we are only showing products." It's already shown. My phone has literally not stopped ringing all day today

So we're taking our time to make sure our information is presented correctly. We have a bunch of new products coming - blanks, guide models, grips, etc. I just ask for your patience and know it's coming. We won't have everything for the show, but I can show you so
