Ok, has anyone out there got a suggestion for a blank for this technique? I am thinking something along the lines of a 1 or 2 power popping rod? The bait weighs 3/8 of an ounce, you typically throw it on spinning gear and want to use no more than 8lb test although in doing some reading, I have seen it said 5lb is optimum.
Let me know what you guys think. I just need something else to build until I can get the boat out on the water again. Thanks, Tom Re: spybaiting

Thomas;
I have one, but have not as of yet used it. Will be doing so next week in our first tournament however and can provide some feed back then. Plan on using the same bait caster I use for stick baiting and small top waters to start with, but may switch to a spinning rod. I think because of it aerial dynamic design It show cast on a bait caster just fine. Re: spybaiting

Hydra BT843C: 8 – 14# Line | 3/16 – 1/2 oz Lure | 7? - Lends itself toward the MB X-Plose
or BT844C: 8 – 17# Line | 1/4 – 3/4 oz Lure | 7? - More popular with the Duo 80, MB Level Swim [hydrafishing.com] You need a blank that will really protect the line. Yes you have trebles, but in this case, line protection is paramount. If you are going really light on line, the BT843C is going to offer more line protection.
