Sorry Bill, I only had 4 hours of sleep due to night tournament. It is a diamond wrap. I completed the wrap and then added 5 wraps of a different color because I have noticed that the threads on the inside get tighter as you add threads to the outside, for the diamond wrap at least. So I did this, added the extra threads, coated the whole wrap even with CP, let it dry, and then peeled off the

Gosh Bill...what article? Also, for your information, since you make all these assumptions about things, I did this wrap on a test wrap including wiping away the residue with alcohol, which seemed to work, but then I got to thinking about it and thought I would ask for the more experienced estimate. Hmmmm...did you offer any? Stating the question more abstractly, would not the epoxy just disso

I just completed a butt wrap yesterday...sorry Bill, customers choice. I did 5 wraps of a sacraficial thread to tighten up the threads and then added CP and then took off the sacrificial thread after it all dried. This left a little CP reidue on the remaining threads. Should I use some alcohol and a que tip to remove most of the residue, thus threatening to loosen up some of the remaining thre

Thanks Charlie. I am looking to make decals on vinyl for rods. I have been talking to Bill Stevens who is a big proponent of using vinyl.... I do know from my earlier (in life) attempts at printing digital photos, using both Epson and HP inks that they fade over the years, but it takes a number of years. On the photos I still have on my wall, it took 5 years to start to fade but became noticea

I have a very ancient HP color deskjet, which of all the color printers I have owned, is the best purchase I have ever made at $125, The inks are expensive, but it has produced hundreds of greeting cards over the years, more than paying for itself. Rather than trying to retrofit this with some sort of ink system that will print archival inks, I was thinking of getting another inexpensive printe

The 100 feet were with 15lb braid. I have not paid much attention to this, so I do not know whether 100 is good or not, but I did not really cast hard because the guides and reel were just taped to the blank. It did seem pretty effortless however. Clinton

I did and without much effort, it went over 100 feet with .4 oz plastic and hook.

I have just put together, temporarily, a 7'11" spinner using the new concept for a Stradic 3000. The guides seem a little strange to me...so I thought I would ask others' opinion. The butt guide is 25mm, followed by 16mm, 10mm, and 7mm as the choker and then (5) 7mm to the tip. What strikes me as odd (in appearance) is the drop from 16mm to 10mm, but that is where it lined up. The choker

Thanks Kevin, that is what I thought, but just wanted a confirmation. Now if I can just figure out how to hold these small single footed guides in one place long enough to wrap them, I am going to be a happy campuer. Clinton

Bill, sorry, I think I missued your answer. It got lost in your reference to the article. So, yes, the choker guide is the same as the running guides, which are 6mm in this case is what you are saying. If that is what you are saying, thanks. If that is not what you are saying, thanks anyway. I am easily confused. Clinton

I read the article already and unless I missed it, it does not answer my question.

Is the choker guide the same size as the running guides, which in this case are 6mm. I have a spinner with a spool of 47mm so I am placing the choker guide about 50 inches from the center of the top of the spool. The butt guide is 25mm. I could use an 8mm for the choker guide followed by the 6mm guides to the tiptop. I may be splitting hairs here, but would just like to know from the new conc

There has been discussion on this forum about taking an MHX MB941, I think, and cutting 6" off it to make it a 7'6" rod. I mentioned this on a thread not long ago and someone said that to take the entire 6" off the butt end would leave the rod unbalanced. At first, I did not understand the comment, but now that it has been explained, I think I understand. I have been thinking ab

Thanks Spencer: He is looking for a two piece set up, although 3 piece would be smaller and easy to carry. Since he is the leader of these Amazon trips, I suspect he is taking a lot of gear for himself and others and just wants something that will fit into a tube shorter than 62", thus avoiding an additional $125 charge. There may be more than one rod being put into these tubes. Cli

Hi Ken: I am not sure what you mean by "uneven." If I cut 6" off the rod, the overall length becomes 6'6", right? How is this uneven? Thanks. Clinton

Yes, but he knows what he wants and he says that there are plenty of heavy rods at those camps in So. America. He needs something lighter with which he can throw the lighter Yozuris he throws. I will check out your suggestions, thanks. Clinton

HI Bill: I understand of course. I am just trying to locate any 2-piece rod other than surf and fly rods so I can evaluate them. I have found MHK and St. Croix. Are there any others? If not, then MHX it is. Clinton

10-14lb, peacock bass, freshwater, I am not using it, the guide's clients will be using it. I would guess from having fished with this person a number of times that he will be casting out lures like the rapalla top water; but he also uses rattle traps and jerk baits, all probably under 3/4oz or less. Does this help. I looked through the entire Mud Hole catalog and there were few 2-piece blanks

I am looking for a 2-piece medium heavy fast action 6'6" rod that is sturdy and can handle such lures as the rapalla 4.5" top water lure. This is for a fishing guide and will be used by his clients, hence it will probably receive heavy use. Bob at Mud Hole kindly pointed me to a couple of MHX and St. Croix options. Any other suggestions on this. Thanks. Clinton

I get the general picture and will be trying this. But a couple of questions. How long do you let the drier run? Okay, you say you fill the low spots and then let it spin for 5 minutes and cover the whole rod. With Pro Kote, the set time is very slow. So, you fill the low spots, but if you then cover the whole rod, you are also going back over the low spots which may take out some of the fi

Hi Bob: I like your technique and will give it a try. On my butt wraps, which often have a build up of threads so there are high and low spots, I have a hard time leveling things out...even after three coats. Your post suggests to me that I may be "flooding" the wrap with too much epoxy. Any additional toughts on how to level out those high spots? Clinton

Hi Hason: It is very good, very clear, and goes on easily. Unfortunately, it is all that I have used, so I do not have a comparison. The comment about testing it outside is a good one, as well as asking Todd at Mud Hole. If I have any difficulties with it, I will be sure to post it here. Clinton
