Can you match the color? By sealer, do you mean U40?

33. Cork Repair
Got a rod with fissurs in the cork the size of the Grand Canyon. These seem to be the nature of this cork where parts of it seem to have washed out, as opposed to being damaged by hitting something and leaving a hole. Can this be repaired? Clinton

Only fly blanks, right? I was unaware of the sponsor rule, so if I have asked an improper question, I apologize. I will contact TFO directly, but from this thread it seems certain that, except for fly blanks, their other blanks are unavailable. Since it was mentioned, has anyone compared their spinner and casting blanks with the blanks of other sponsors, actual field tests. A friend of mine u

Seems that their rod blanks are available but none of their other blanks. This is why I posted here.

Are there are any TFO Signature Series blanks available anywhere? Thanks. Clinton

I could but he is on the other side of the state and he wants me to decide...which I find troublesome, for the most part, as my sense is that person just goes fishing without thinking about it too much. I made a rod for his gandson and he liked it and wanted something similar. Nice recommendation, but now I have to come up with something that will make him happy as well. Hmmmmmmmmm.....

Yes, that is one of the reels I was thinking about when I mentioned the other MHX blended rods. Thanks. Clinton

I aksed him again and for this rod, he will be throwing mirror lures and other top water lures and casting shrimp for reds and snook. If he there is more to what he does than this, he is not articulating it. I know he fishing out of Ft. Myers and Sarasota, Florida...in other words the Gulf. So in terms of top techinque, I think he is fishing top water lures, and using live shrimp. He has othe

What would be a good rod for a Thunnus 4000 ci4 (Shimano)...customer already has the reel? I am thinking about the MHX843 or the blend equivalent of that. This reel can handle up to 40lb test line...or at least that is the last specification given for the reel. I talking with this person, he said he has 15lb power pro put on the reel already and that he would not be using anything over 20lb.

If I want to negate the affect of a black colored blank on the color of a thread I am wrapping, can this be negated by painting the blank white where the wrap is going to go. Will the acrylic stick to the blank? Will the acrylic interfer with guides being firmly affixed to the rod? In other words, would the acrylic break loose from the rod and allow the line guide to change its position? I ca

Absolutely...Russ, glad to. I do not have a problem with what I have...I am just seeking information based on experience and knowledge. For me personally, I both use and do not use CP, as CP can serve many purposes in rod building....not the least of which it holds things in place. But more importantly, I am interested in color, so if I can gain the color I want by using CP, I use it, but this

Hopefully this post will not start a debate on using CP or not using CP. I am interested in finding out the pros and cons of using more than one coating of CP on threads. I have heard people say that you need more than one coat of CP on certain threads in order to preserve the color, obviously, non-NCP threads. I am also thinking that the white substance in the CP, Flex Coat's water based stu

Yes. I am signing in just like I sign into the forum. In fact, I have an automated program that does the signing in for me...as when I sign into the forum. So I am stumped.

I seem to be having some trouble logging into the photos page. I have no trouble logging into the forum, but when I go over to photos and attempt to register (again) it gives me an invalid message. I went over there to try and figure out how to post a picture. Hmmmmmmm....maybe I have been banned from pictures. Clinton

I am looking for help on doing multiple chevrons on a single rod...I have seen them but do not have a picture, so it is hard to describe. The chevrons seem to go around the entire rod and I was wondering how that is set up. I can do simple chevrons and other variations using chevrons, but when I try to do them around the rod, my results to do conform to my mental image of what I am loooking for

Thanks Mike, that was a very thoughtful reply. From your experience, however, has denatured alcohol affected any of your epoxy work and if so how?

I am using S-L-X Denatured Alcohol I bought from Home Depot.

If I clean some threads with alcohol and let them dry thoroughly, say, overnight, and then put epoxy over the threads, will the epoxy be affected? Alcohol evaporates quickly, but I do not know if it leaves anything behind. Clinton
