Mike and Vikki Pedersen of Riley Rods were at the expo and they can hook you up. They are listed on the left in the sponsor column. I bought from them and they are great to work with. My experience with the foam and carbon fiber is that it is lighter more durable and less expensive to use. I love the rods I have the carbon on and so do my customers. Craig Back River Rods

Guess I need to buy some color preserver. The fishhawk I have is regular nylon and not metallic or NCP. Thanks for the replies. Craig

Okay folks I'm sure this is basic but . . . . I have never used fish hawk thread. I have always used gudebrod NCP. I bought some fishhawk at the expo and put the underwraps on my rod in the 221 orange color. My question is, do I need to use color preserver on the fish hawk thread? Again I have only ever used NCP and have not used it before, so any advice would be great. Thanks , C

Speaking of distance. If spinning reels threw farther how come every surf casting competition is filled with conventional reels over spinning reels? I do agree with you though on the lighter lures. I can throw an 1/8 better with my spinning gear than with bait casting gear. I have also stood shoulder to shoulder with buddy that could out throw me with a bait caster and an 1/8 ounce lure. I t

I bought the same wrapper at the expo and bought a deluxe chuck as well. have had no problems with mine. I have turned cork and sanded foam with it. Seems more of a chuck prob than a wrapper prob.

I've got a pac bay wrapper with the deluxe chuck. I have been using it to turn cork. Not sure if it is the best for turning cork, but I haven't had any troubles yet.

I specifically asked a guy from Fishsticks if they had any trolling blanks, he said yeah I think so and went looking, he never came back to me. Since he didn't come back I figured I would look elsewhere and didn't find what I was looking for. I bought a blank from Riley as well as some foam. Never saw any turbo guides for sale, never saw any roller guides for sale. Yes batson had some as did

Seminar's were great!!! Wealth of info. I learned so much I had to write it down so I could remember it later. I was a little disappointed in the selection of Saltwater guides and blanks, but one thing out of a hundred didn't ruin it for me. Tom great job pulling it all off.

I really enjoyed your displays. I think I drove Bobby crazy with the media questions I had. Mr. Stevens gave me a casting lesson with the micro guided rods he had. And yes I bought some. I enjoyed the flocking seminar by him as well. The castaway blanks were great and I can't wait to build my first castaway micro guide rod!!! Thanks you for coming to the expo.

3.5's all the way up, got it. Tip as well? Going to put a 200 curado on it with 20lb power pro. From the other thread, my knots are not real sloppy, maybe one in 50 @#$%&. I knocked the tip ring out of a St. Croix premier series two years ago with a 20lb flouro leader and 14lb Fireline. Uni to uni but I did 5 turns on each side. dropped to 14 and haven't had that problem repeat. (knock on w

I have a 6'6" St. Croix Avid blank. I want to do spit grips and thinking about micro guides. What size do ya'll recommend? I've never done micros before. Do I need to taper or just use the same size all the way up?

Holy SH . . . well I got some research to do then. I've always like a good long cast. Boat don't spook the fish and such with the ability to bomb it out there. One more question. I like to use a 2' foot piece of 14lb flouro leader. I use a uni to uni connection. 7 turns to the braid side and 4 turns to the mono side. Will that knot fit through the guides?

Steve, I will be at the EXPO. I will that question there. Thanks for the explanation. The loading and shooting makes since. I guess I've just always thought that bigger holes equal better distance and less resistance. Come to think of it, most high end production rods have smaller and smaller guides each year. I know Shimano has one called a cumara and the guides on it are little. Not sur

Do you have a pic? I've been debating using them as well. I fish for specks and red with 6'6 st, croix that I built with regular guides and a 2500 stradic with braid. I can't imagine a rod that would cast better than what I have. What is the benefit of the micro guide over the regular guides, and why does it cast further? Really want to learn the difference as I have a few buddies I need to

I followed the directions in the magazine and was moderately successful first time out. I used ncp white and black as a base then metallic red for the top. It worked well. I've seen videos and read about the three thread tigers but have yet to try it. Stick to the designs in the rodmaker mag and they will not fail you.!

He may have been talking about tiger wrapping or Halo wrapping. That is way different than marbling.
