I bought a 270 from you there. First thing I did when I got home was install the software and start playing. I couldn't be happier! Wish I had bought one last year.

I'm a saltwater guy. Specialize in speckled trout and redfish. They are pretty similar to bass fishing in techniques used to catch them. Lots of casts, different lures, etc. The rods we use for those can be used by bass people as well. American Tackle - MB73 10/20!

Definitely cast smoother! Using the recommended set up for the first two guides is imperative. AmTack has put a lot of time and effort into developing the system and it works well. The Microwaves also get a lot of looks which can lead to more business.

133. Re: Why?
I started building rods, because I built the boat I fish on, and make my own lures. I figured it would be cool to say I caught a fish on a boat I built, on a rod I built, with a lure that I made. That was nine years ago, and I liked the rod building so much I kept at it. It's almost therapeutic at times!!

IF it's possible, go to the ICRBE and touch them all. I was fortunate enough to get to attend the ICRBE a few years ago and I touched and flexed many many blanks. The ones I liked, I wrote the numbers down. Batson, American Tackle, Seeker, Phenix, NFC, St. Croix, Mudhole, Hydra and I'm sure I left some out were all there. ICRBE is great for blank learning if one is able to attend.

As far as grip lengths go, it's up to you! Put the reel seat on the rod and move it up and down the blank until you're happy with the butt length then mark it. For me, most of my bigger spinning rods have a butt length of 11 and 1/4 inches. But that's me. You may like it longer or shorter. The thing about custom is you can adjust it to the angler. As far as guide placement I think a "ge

Slack in the line when the angler first starts to reel will cause knots as well. I got a buddy that we knick named "wind knot" for just that reason. He'd make a cast and and get slack in his line and just start cranking. Loose line under tight line will tangle every time.

Great group!! I worked with a group of vets at Ft. Eustis in Va, through this organization a few years ago and it was an incredible experience. These guys and gals are truly amazing and great heroes. Like you, I was honored to share the craft of rod building to such incredible individuals!

Thanks for the responses. It is an aqua marine that is more greenish than blue. I tried the pro wrap 9410 and it is more blue than green. Also tried the 9540 and it is a bit more green than the 9252 from Gudebrod. I hope someone has or will start making that color again, alot of folks like it.

Anyone have any Gudebrod 9252 size A they would be willing to sell? Doesn't have to be gudebrod just the same color.

Anyone know what pro wrap metallic thread matches a Penn international? I can't distinguish the colors on the Mudhole website. Or if some knows another brand that matches Penn Gold that would be good as well. Thanks, Craig

Nice edit of the original question, Jay. The original question had to do with how some folks can price rods for lower than others can get parts for? The original question then asked is there a basic pricing element? Nothing more nothing less. I appreciate all the responses. I did email you and asked a question, you never replied back. And I wouldn't worry about Tom, I'm sure all the hits t

However, I thought this board was about helping, so I'm not sure why you would want to confuse anyone. Seems rather hypocritical of you. Ya'll keep it coming, it's not often a post goes

Jay - just seeing if you paying attention. Your statement seemed a bit harsh since you know nothing about me. I like folks that ASSume I don't know anything. It makes it easier to sneak up on them and surpass them with better skills and knowledge. If you have a shop I'd like to see it sometime, I usually hit MHC twice a year and Harker's isn't that far away. Could be an easy side trip for me
