This is one of the biggest problems in our classes. We get students that watch some videos prior to attending and think they have to work the Epoxy instead of letting it work for them. Largest problem hands down is applying finish. Todd

Bob, if this is an open water rod then you should be considering the Specifically designed Crank Bait models by MHX. If you are looking at ripping them through grass down here in Florida you should probably be considering an MB843-MHX. Regards, Todd

Kerry, it is the stands not being perpendicular to the chuck. I have this issue sometimes when I move a support and don't pay a lot of attention to how it is sitting when I tighten it back down. change the angle and it will push the rod back into the chuck. Todd

Mark, MHX has several models which excel at these applications. Take a look at the DS822-MHX which is available in the classic slate color or the brilliant white. There is also the HM-DS822-MHX and the brand new XF (extra fast models) which I personally believe might be the best blank on the market for walleye jigging. regards, Todd

Mike, the SW-76ML-MHX would be an excellent choice in fact there are 4 models in the MHX saltwater lineup that we recommend for KingFish. It all depends upon your preferred length and line. Regards, Todd

Bob is correct. Being as the ProKote Hi build has an accelerated cure rate it is going to yellow faster. I still find that the regular ProKote yellows less than any other 2 part 1-1 epoxy finish. Todd

Cameron, being as you stated you were specifically looking at MHX models I would like to give you my $0.02. We have a couple of models which will work for this application and these are my 2 favorites for trout and red fish. the first being the "SJ842-MHX" and the 2nd being the "DS822-Blend". While these are only my favorites they have performed well for me for 5

David, Lamiglas makes a 7’9” designed specifically for down rigger Kokanee fishing. We have the S871-2-MHX which we promote as a Trout/Kokanee trolling rod which would work very well. Personally if I were building a down rigger for Kokanee or Trout I’d move the butt guide a bit closer to the reel because these blanks are very parabolic and loaded into a “U” shape will easily put the l

David, the L843-MHX has a stiffer tip than the SJ843 and Bob Tanner is correct that the MB843-MHX would be stiffer but for a trout rod I would not recommend the MB843-MHX, stick with the L843-MHX or SJ843-MHX. Regards Todd

Jacob, I was the blank designer at Lamiglas for 20 years and know that blank very well. Not only from manufacturing it but from much time spent using it. In my opinion the closest match to this blank would be the HS9000-2-MHX. Regards, Todd

Ken, the base measures 5 1/2" X 11" and the centers between supports is 4 13/16". We are hoping to have our first shipment of bases in from the manufacturer the first of February. David, one of the unfortunate things about printing a catalog that is good for one (1) year is that when you have a company go out of business that supplies you with product you list you have to live
