Most flippin sticks have 26-30" tubes which sometimes puts that stripping guide out quite a ways.

Hal, the best solution I have found for this issue is to glue a piece of rod blank or wooden dowel into the butt of the handle tube that will keep the blade (tip) from dropping all the way down. In this case I would suspect a 6" piece should be enough to solve your problem. Todd

Chris, the RSG3T is designed to fit the American Tackle Aero seat. To fit the ACSM or ECSM you want the FSG387.

Jon, I agree about the reel size as a 2500 size with 10 lb. braid is still going to hold over 200 yds. I pretty much only use 10 lb. power pro and use up to 17 lb. fluoro leader with no issues passing the knot down to a size #2 micro.

Chris, Choosing guides today can be a bit of a chore. My recommendation would be to choose the frame style that you wish, then select the ring type & frame material. This will generally be dictated by price as obviously SIC type rings are going to be more than Hardloy and Titanium Frames will be more than 304 stainless. For a standard concept type setup the sizes you have selected would work

Having known these boys since they were 9 & 10 years old I can say it has been a privilege to spend time with them whether it's been on the water, behind a booth at one of the shows or when they assist us with classes. I can honestly say that I cannot think of two other people that I have enjoyed fishing with so much. Both are very passionate about rod building and fishing and I don't think t

Jeremy, you can't go wrong with the new S-Glass MHX series. This is a tried and true action sought after for years for the application you inquired about. And if you are looking for something a bit lighter and smaller in diameter the X-Composite Crankbaits from MHX are the ticket.

Maryann, I agree with Geoff, 6-10 or 8-12 lb. should be fine up there. While I have never fished the Deschutes with spinning tackle I can tell you from fly fishing it primarily in the Fall, Winter & Spring the difference between using 8lb & 6lb fluoro can mean the difference in getting skunked or hooking up. Being as there is no fishing from boats on that river all of your angling will b

Bill, my experience has been that improved casting distance may not necessarily be the case in spinning models but the reduction in tip weight and superior distribution of stress by the concept setup make it a far more desirable setup. You will not have a reduction in casting distance it's just debatable as to whether you will gain much. I know in my own rods the difference in the setup makes tw

Bill, I checked out the 3C90HF2 that Jim recommended and then checked it action wise against the SA1086F-MHX and the SU1085F-2-MHX. Both the MHX blanks were faster in action but the SA was considerably heavier in power than the St. Croix blank. The SU1085-2 blank weighted in very similarly and was very similar in power.

David, I did most of the testing on the original formula of the new High Build. On the half dozen or so rods I built I found that it is a little higher viscosity than the Flex Coat, is much clearer, has about twice the working time and sets up in about 3 hours.
