Hi guys, I'm building this blank ( ) and was wondering if I could get some suggestions on guide sizes and number of guides? This will be fished from the beach, and I would like to spiral wrap it. The reel will be a Avet EXW 80 wide ( ), and biggest line size will be 200lb mono. This will also be my first spiral wrap, and I'm unsure about guide sizing on conventional/baitcasting reels as I build

I asked my brother what he will use it for, and he said targets will be bulls and hammers as big as he can get. The black tips and spinners will be bycatches. The only problem I'm having now is finding the components that will fit it. Thanks!

I bought a 6 pack of random brushes at craft store and have been using 91% isopropyl alcohol to clean them. I just put the brush in the alc and swirl it around a bit and leave it there. A bit before I get ready to use it I pull it out and dry it on a towel and let it sit for a bit for it to evaporate and it's ready to go. They were like $3 for the pack, and so far I have cleaned them 8 times and

If you are going to be throwing 8 and bait on a spinning reel get a glove. If you will be using braid really get a glove. Are you set on a spinning reel?

I recently made a post about a broken rod that i wanted to fix...it had some cracks long ways on a hs9000 rainshadow blank and when i was handling it the rod broke in half...so i was thinking about cutting off the messed up end of it which would leave me with about 5 foot or so from tip to the cut and making an ultra light rod out of it if i cut off the messed up part do you think it would be

the UV stuff seems to be expensive...i guess the epoxy is not so expensive but the UV light to cure it is very expensive i looked around to make my own light but it says the UV needs to be a certain wave so i guess a UV bulb wont necessarily do it...the ones for doctors will but from what i see they are around $2k lol

i was reading a 2008 issue of rodmaker (i have a bunch laying around lol) and i seen prices for repairs and warranties and all...people were commenting they replace guides and the customer gets them back within 48 hours...i was wondering how you can give it in 48 hours i thought the normal cure time to wait to use the rod was 3-7 days?

if you put it to the right or left you might have a problem making sure the guides are straight lol

if its tip heavy cant you just move the reel seat back and use the weight of the reel to get balance? sorry if im wrong im just wondering cause this thread is teaching me a lot even though normally i like a light tip end and a heavier rear instead of perfect balance edit: well with that said i just tested the balance on the rod i just built and the balance point with reel is 1 inch from the to

you could also try the threadmaster one...i tested a bit with it and just used it for a full light duty saltwater rod...havent tried it in the field yet though cause i have to wait a few more days for the epoxy to cure but the threadmaster one goes on pretty easy and so far its all leveled nicely and such just needs to use like 3 or so coats...it also cleans up with water so excellent for me l

have you tried applying it by hand turning instead of under power? i get a wavy finish when i do it under power and when i start hand turning while applying it went on better and no wavy...also i stopped using a power rod drier for the same reason and now i put it on thin and hand turn it for an hour or 2 hours while i watch tv and it turns out nice also i figure if you let it on a drier right

im not sure but i would think that after you put finish on the guide it wont be able to move around anymore to be able to pop the glue or so i would think? anyway though i think would be best if you tried a couple different ways that have been mentioned here maybe you find one of the other ways just as easy or better im guessing to try all of the ways here on a scrap blank would probably cost
