some thoughts on this please

I recently made a post about a broken rod that i wanted to fix...it had some cracks long ways on a hs9000 rainshadow blank and when i was handling it the rod broke in half...so i was thinking about cutting off the messed up end of it which would leave me with about 5 foot or so from tip to the cut and making an ultra light rod out of it

if i cut off the messed up part do you think it would be ok to build it into an ultra light? or would the blank just end up breaking somewhere else

also if its ok to cut and build it when i cut the messed up part off do i need to do anything to the cut mark? like put something to seal it or so?

It won't necessarily break unless there is some sort of damage in the area you're left with.
