OK need a little help here please . In Dec. my son asked me to build a rod for my four grandchildren. Instead of going the high end he decided for me to build on a kit blank. So I ordered four Forecast SP-842 7' 6-12 lbs. Wanting to build on the straightest axis. All four blanks has a slight bend up close to the tip. Is it correct to put the bend up at the tip for a spinning rod ??
Thanks in advance for all replies !!! <<<<DON>>>> Fort Myers Fla. Re: Building on the straightest axis

You're going to have to go for the overall average. Sight down the blank as a whole and try to get what you think is overall straightest. Failing that, you can certainly put any tip crook "up." It won't matter too much anyway.

Donald,
It is correct to put the tip up. It is correct to put the tip down. It is not correct to put the tip to the right. It is not correct to put the tip to the left. Your choice. I personally like to put the tip down simply to keep the rod from rolling around. But, to each his own. Re: Building on the straightest axis

if you put it to the right or left you might have a problem making sure the guides are straight lol Re: Building on the straightest axis

Thanks for the replies, very much appreciated.... Since I'm building four rods ,I have decided to build two up ,two down and let the grandkids give me any feed back on the builds . But come to think about it ,they always reel them up to look like shepherds staffs anyway ,so I guess it won't make much difference ... LOL !!! Re: Building on the straightest axis

Hum....When it comes to building my casting rods I like my guide tip up but when it comes to building my spinning rod I like to place my tip top facing down.
