Use a Nail knot. I make my bands using metallic 3 turns. Make the nail knot, cinch the thread tight, drop a small amount of CP on band. After ~ 10 minutes trim ends.

Is it the spring steel that is needed? I have an extra if you need it.

Agree with Dave. I have the 270 I purchased at the show, this printer can do everything. Not just labels for rods but other items as well. You can definitely see the edges. If you can get a picture of a logo, you can make a decal on the spot, I have made several rods with logos and this maker worked great. I guess I will just live with the edges. Still experimenting....if and when I elimina

I recently had a Popping rod I made have the tiptop guide grooved from using braid. It was a Zirconium ring. Has anyone had this issue using braid. This is the first for me.
Thanks,

I cut a small board at a 45° angle, place the decal where the edge of the decal is exposed and use an Exacto knife to do the trimming. I also purchased a bevel tool for matted pictures, you can purchase them at a Hobby shop. Worked OK, just hard to hold. Had to apply great pressure and have a really sharp blade. You can also lay a scissor on its side, tried that as well. Still had the edge

Talked to Larry several months ago on any tips/tricks in reference to the edges and he stated he had none. If something has evolved since then I have not seen it.

Dave,
I did that experiment as well, just failed to post it. I tried it with finish down, waited 24 hours then placed decal onto blank, then finish topcoat, still could see the edges. I did this also with beveling to 45°, with the same results.

I purchased the 270 at the show in NC last Feb. I have the same issues. I have done several tests with the decals and here are the results:
* Placed on bare blank, no finish, then placed a finish over the decal, came out great but could still see the edges.
* Placed on bare blank, CP over decal, let dry then a topcoat of finish, came out great but the decal edges were visible.
* Tri

I will do. Most of the vendors I call don't carry a large inventory of Batson guides. Thanks.

Tell him you don't have change then take the $200 for a downpayment on a custom rod.

Just had decals made of my logo for rod applications. Great professional service, and the decal was beyond my expectations.

Had the same thing happen to me as well last week. I have been building for ~25 years and have never had this issue. Packed tight, clean hands, FC color preserver. When I placed the finish on had spots and dark lines in the thread appear. Cut off wrap and did in NCP due to time constraints for rod. The thread was Gudebrod A regular. Has to be bad CP or the thread is contaminated.

45. Re: 2015 Expo
Had a great time at the 2014 expo, my first visit. Met some great folks as well. The only downside is wife spent to much money in the downtown art galleries, boutiques. shops, etc, etc. Hopefully it will be my annual trek to the East coast. Thanks for making it happen again.

Roger,
I purchased the Prolite FTL200. I saw it at the show in NC in February but purchased one later on. Not pleaseed with the light output, the one at the show appeared to have more light, although the same light. It is LED as well and carried a price tag of $100.00. Appears you have hit the jackpot. Did notice the stores appear to be all in the North. Sounds like mine migh

Have not had that issue. Only issue is trying to eliminate the decal edges from showing.

I have an older Clemens lathe and need one of the knobs that secure the rod supports to the base. They are 4 prong black and have a small piece of plastic in the threaded end to keep from marring the lathe bed. If anyone can direct me to a source I would appreciate it.
Thanks.

I have three of them.. The price is good but they appear to be heavier than the RX8. I was discussing these with the reps at the show and they claim they are one of their best sellers. They stated the return rate is low as well.

I have been searching for a good LED ligt for my rod wrapping bench. I have ordered a few but they are not bright as I desire. I purchased one that was for sale at the Expo ~ $110.00 and it does not have the light needed as well. Any suggestions on what ya'll use, make and type would be appreciated. Thanks for your time and help.

I use the same method as above. If you go to the Flexcoat website they have a tutorial as well as a small clip to show you how its done.

What I found was at the paint store, a small 3" roller. The roller part is a dowel and I covered it with a layer of masking tape and it worked fine.

Ken,
You can print two lines one on top of the other. Print your first line of text then hit enter and it will drop below. The more I play with this label maker I find more it can do. You can also print the background color of the tape and the letters clear.

I purchased the label maker at the show as well. I made several labels and placed them on scrap blanks for an experiment. I found that if I removed the backing with the tip of an exacto knife, carefully placed it on the blank, then used a small roller with some good pressure I had the best results. When applied without much pressure I got the cloudy appearance. The point of the exacto allowed

20# Mono tied in a uni knot. Great for static positioning and test casting, adjustable as well. Wrap to the mono then touch with razor blade, done.
