K-Sun printer decals cloudy

Just received my K-Sun 270 decal printer and need a little advice. The first decals I made were gold on clear. The print turned out beautiful, but after I put it on the rod and epoxied it, you can see the tape is cloudy. The factory decal from AT also in gold on the Matrix blank is clear as glass.

Has anyone else experienced this? I was wondering if I needed to do anything special on the application? Thanks for any input.

Tom

Hi Tom,
That could be the glue on the backing showing through. I have found that a thin coat of finish on the blank, can help.
Kind regards,

Tom,
Either that, or go to a solid colour, like gold on black tape for example, there are heaps of colour schemes. You can stick your fingers all over the glue underside and no one will ever know.

Have not had that issue. Only issue is trying to eliminate the decal edges from showing.

It's important to really get the decal stuck down tight to the blank. A brayer/roller can help do this. Any time you have insufficient contact, even a very minute difference, it can show up as a slightly cloudy area, even across the whole decal.

I have used 7 or 8 of the decals in both gold and silver on both matt and gloss finish blanks applied directly to the blank and have not had any issues at all. I do use a brayer after application also.

Get yourself a roller, it works wonders.

A bit slow on the response but I wanted to thank those for the replys and suggestions. I bought the brayer and rolled the decals down on my next few builds and they turned out perfectly.

Thanks
Tom
