Try using 20# mono and tie a uni knot in it. Leave the tag end ~2". Slide the loop over the blank and guide foot and pull to tighten. This loop allows you to reposition the guide and when the thread reaches the mono just touch it with a razor blade and your done. I make several of these while I watch a sporting event on the TV. I recently made a Pitching rod for a Bass angler on a 7' GUSA blank. It was spiral wrapped. This is not my first spiral rod to make. I use the spiral for all my saltwater rods and like the setup. I have a question in reference to guides as well. I see where some guides boast 100% Titanium frames. I am not a metalurgist, but I thought that Titanium was i brittle metal and had to be combined with a stronger alloy to be useful. Anyone have any insight into this claim? Tight Lines, Pat

Rob, Try using 30# Stren Mono . I take a piece about 12" long, tie a Uniknot in the middle and slide on the blank. Place the guide(s) in their proper location and pull tight. As you are wrapping the guide and come to the mono just snip and your done. I use this system for test casting as well. You are able to move the guides as needed and they stay put.
