Scott, You need to use an extension cord or 2. I have one running from the wall to the middle of my bench on the floor. The foot pedal plugs into this. I run another extension cord from the receptical side of the pedal to the motor. With 6' of cord it will allow you to kick the thing up and down the bench a distance of 12'. They don't draw much current, but use the orange 16 or 14 gauge ones

Charles, there is a setup on the fujitackle site - it is all in japanese. Fuji's setup has the collector 120cm (47") from the reel, next guide 60 cm from that. Are you distance casting with the rod, or fishing with it? If you are fishing with it, do yourself a favor and do a static distribution set up for your blank, and play with the first guide distance.

It will be braid, more than likely 50#. The reel will be either a 8000 shimano or a large penn,or the guy is thinking of buying a VS250. The foot of the simano and penn fits into the NPS 20 fine. I have used these seats alot on lighter stuff, just concerned about something this heavy

I'm currently planning an inshore/light offshore spinning rod. It will see alot of 30-40lb fish (stripers, cobia, dolphin, small schoolie tuna etc) and would like to use the NPS seat. Has anyone ever had a failure of the seat? I'm a little concerned about the strength and feel that I may be better off with a standard DPS, but I don't know if that feeling is based in any fact. Can anyone sh

I use it as a way to meet people. You can't imagine how many people will stop and tell you that the top of your 12' surf rod is on upside down.

I have had 2 this way. From all of these posts, I gather that this is the way that they come. I installed the grips, and all is fine.

Thornhill Thomas, Every time you post this I am amazed! Have you ever thought on any given day how many people are fishing with a rod that was wrapped by you? Absolutely amazing.

I think that it's how FAST it moves, not how far. Tip velocity determines the initial velocity of the lure. At least that's what I would think from what I remember from physics.

Another fine use of the Forecast glass rods.. the SWB blanks make great king rods, ( and sleeves, handle extensions, etc) The taper on them is so drastic that you are more than likely going to find a section of the blank to match your repair.

I won't tell you what to do, but I will mention that I'm on vacation this week. I have 2 spiral wrapped rods, a SU1502, and a SU1387 with me. They cast great, and fish much better than a conventional wrap. In all honesty, if you blindfolded someone and had them cast the rods, they would not be able to tell that they are spiral wrapped. When you are hooked up, you can definetly tell the differe

Do any of our sponsors carry casting cannons? I have someone who wants a SPINNING SU1502, lowrider guides and a casting cannon. Just need the casting cannon, thought I'd ask here first.

Is the St. Croix imperial line built on their SCll blanks? I have a friend who is looking for a 7'6" 4pc. 4wt, and has tried a bunch of rods and settled on that one. I looked on the St Croix site, and I guess they don't list that line of rods anymore. I've only built on and fished SClll (avid series) and up. In a related question, how does the Imperial compair to the (old) RX7? I purchas

Yowwwzer! One thing that you can do is make a shield out of cardboard. Take a large square and make a hole in it corresponding to the mandrel height from the lathe bed. Duct tape the square to the bed so that it is perpendicular to the lathe bed, with the mandrel passing though the hole, with the square direcly in front of the chuck. This does 2 things. Keeps your fingers in one piece, and i

I have done BYAG to BLAG on several plugging rods and it works fine. My only advise would be to test cast your spacing with braid if you are going to fish with it. Some of the limper (sp?) braids love to get wrapped around the fly guides.

I graduated from a cardboard box to a renzetti. I think for me, it was the best decision I could have made. I wrapped enough rods by hand to know that it was something that I was going to do for as long as I could fish. I like good tools, and this is one that is well thought out, and very functional. You didn't mention what type of rods you are building. I say this because for me, it makes a

Is this a repair or replacement of all the guides? If you are only replacing one or two guides, you can cut the finish around the blank at the foot of the guide. Then slice the old wrap down the foot of the guide to your cut. If you do this carefully, you can save the el cheapo painted on trim wraps, and then wrap on a new guide with black thread.

How I met Jesse: I attended the first big show with my then 9yr old son. Since I was talking to a lot of people that I have only ever talked to on the phone or via email, my son was looking around on his own. He came up to me with one of Jesse’s hosels with a tied caddis fly in it. I asked how much it was, and he told me it was “Free”. Wadda ya mean “Free”. Sure enough, Jesse had g

I have never used the chrome version of the alconite guides, always used the black. I have a project that requests chrome guides. I would prefer to use titanium, but that's not in the cards at this point. Do the chrome alconites hold up pretty well in the salt?
