Chrome alconites in salt water

I have never used the chrome version of the alconite guides, always used the black. I have a project that requests chrome guides. I would prefer to use titanium, but that's not in the cards at this point.

Do the chrome alconites hold up pretty well in the salt?

Bob,

I've got several Saltwater rods with Chrome Fuji's that look as good as the day they were wrapped which is YEARS ago. I'm pretty careful about cleaning my gear when I come in, which I'm sure has a lot to do with it.

A plain stainless frame with SiC guides might be an "inbetween" solution.

The Fuji Alconites have the best chrome plating I've ever seen. I have several rods with these guides which have been used in saltwater for a number of years. All the guide frames look like new. I do clean my rods after each trip. Only Titanium is better. Much better than any of Fuji's gold frame guides.

I have s et on a rod which I refuse to clean, been 2 years of use, about 20-30 trips per year from a jetty. Tehy look very good considering I never cleaned them. My test proved to me that with a decent job cleaning teh guides, tehy will hol dup and last.
