I use the 6 turn Trilene knot to tie on the lure and the 6 turn Blood knot for line to line. I don't believe that these knots have failed me yet BUT I am open to suggestions. Thanks

I believe that the reel seat arbors or tape position the reel seat to the center of the blank and that after the epoxy cures they serve no purpose as the seat is solid to the blank. The VSS handle kit that I used included the arbors which are sized to the ID of the reel seat and you ream out the center of the arbors to match your blank. I also found that you do not want to put a lot of downward

I just installed one of these reel seats and I used the reel seat arbors instead of the tape. I was able to slide the reel seat arbor into place into the semi hole in the cork handle. I also used some cable ties with stiff thin cardboard underneath to secure the uneven cork handle to the reel seat while the epoxy cured. The cable ties without the cardboard and/or some other type support will l

The Fuji 'K' series guides have the ring at a forward angle offset of about 10/15 degrees from the 90 to the blank instead of being perpendicular. Does anyone see any problems with this? Thanks

This is how I finish the wrap so that I don't have any "nibs". I put in the pull through in10 to 12 wraps from the end & I use 8lb mono loops with a surgeons knot to tie the ends of the loop. I put the "tag"end of the thread in the loop and pull the mono loop until the thread is tight against the end of the wrap. I cut the excess thread at the mono loop and pull the loo

What is the best way to clean off fresh epoxy, (before the epoxy sets up), from the reel seat & cork handle when installing these components and some of the material squeezes out? TIA

Can I use the Forhan locking 3 wraps on the Fuji KL guides where the 'Y' of the guide support arms seems to merge with the foot which would make the locking wrap wide and open at the top. I don't have the guides yet and basing this on the pictures in the Fuji manual. I would like to know if anyone has done this wrap on the KL guides & thanks.

I have a blank that has a 1.2CM diameter at 4" from the base and would like to know if a size 16 or 17 Fuji reel seat will fit? Thanks and how do I determine the tip tube size of 4 or 4.5?

Fuji has developed a SW type app that will help with guide placement on spinning rods. They also have some info for determining the reel/rod data. The site is www.anglersresource.net.

I have arthritis and for me I need the full grip for comfort during a full day of fishing. My cork grips are not contoured and I finish them with Tru Oil. I have never had a problem with wet grips being slick. I fish a lot from a float tube and do a lot of 2 handed casting with a spinning rod.

The same email had a link to Fuji's new KR CONCEPT for placing guides on a spinning rod. Anyone have comments on this and/or have you used this method yet? Thanks

On my 7' spinning rod with the reel mounted but no lure tied on the balance point for the rod is just above the reel face. Does this seem about right? The reel foot is 10" from the rod butt and the 25MM 1st guide is 23.5" from the reel face or spool lip.

The only time I had a problem with Flex Coat was due to my mistake of NOT mixing the correct amounts of each part. You must be absolutely sure that you have 50% of each part and mix/stir for at least 2 minutes. I was able to apply a 3rd coat which solved my tacky finish problem. I also put each part/bottle in a bowl of hot water before mixing which seems to make the process of measuring & m

This spacing may give you a starting point. Guide spacing Specs(inches from tip, center ring over mark) 4.5-9.25-14.25-19.75-25.75-32.5-40-49 I have used this for a 7' popping blank.

7' G Loomis P8400. I use mine for both fresh water & inshore salt water. Caught a False Albacore yesterday that was about 15lbs. What a fight and great all around rod.

I believe that there is only a single US Marine Corps and the 'S' should not be on Marine(s). Marines make up the US Marine Corps. My 2 cents worth and I have been out of the USMC for 49 years.

My suggestion would be a 7' popping rod, light & fast action 6 to 12lb line. I have used that combination for top water bass and red drum fishing. The blanks that I built were the GLX P8400 which of course are no longer available from G Loomis.

You may want to stop in at Grizzly Hackle and ask them as there are many rod builders in that area.

Whenever I test cast with the guides taped to the rod, (spinning), I cannot tell any difference when I move the guides up and down the rod. By moving I mean a couple of inches. Any ideas what I may doing wrong? TIA

I will try and answer your question on the wiring for the switches. If you were to wire them in a ‘parallel circuit’ then either switch could be used to turn the motor off or on provided that the other switch is off. If you were to wire them in a ‘series circuit’ then both switches would have to be on or closed to turn on the motor and either switch could be used to turn the motor off.

I prefer a fore grip on my 7' spinning rods as I fish a lot from a float tube and use a method that I call "dragging". This is plastic worm fish while drifting with the wind or paddling when calm. I like dragging when the fishing slows down and of course I don't use a fish finder on the float tube. The fore grip is just more comfortable for me and easier when switching hands.
