I have a blank that has a 1.2CM diameter at 4" from the base and would like to know if a size 16 or 17 Fuji reel seat will fit? Thanks and how do I determine the tip tube size of 4 or 4.5? Re: reel seat size

Dave, 1.2 cm is the same as 12 mm and the internal diameter of a 16 or 17 reel seat is around 16 or 17 mm.
Best way: you would buy a foam arbor to fit the seat you prefer and genlty ream to fit after gluing it into the seat. I am unsure what your tip question means but this may help: the external diameter of the ring in a guide or tip top is measured in MM the tube that fits over the rod tip in the USA is measured in 64ths of an inch. I would size the seat to fit my hand, not the blank. You can shim to fit.

What kind of reel seat are you looking at? If it is a blank exposed casting reel seat you would order a 12mm seat which would be based on a size 16 seat. Like the others have said if it is a spinning seat or non exposed casting seat either would work with bushings.
Tips are traditionally measured in 64ths of an inch, but Alex has been listing the Kigan guides by the actual mm size of the tubing used. In your case a 4 tip would be 1.6m and a 4.5 would be 1.8mm. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
