1. wood grips
Does anyone know of a source for wood fly rod grips? I have checked all the sponsors that used to carry them and can find none. Thanks for the help.

"Internal Server Error" when I try to gain access to CSS Data site. Is there a work-around or is the site permanently down? This has happened today and yesterday. Thanks for the help.

I have a client seeking to replace a 2-pc, 5' 10" fiberglass rod for one of his fishing buddies . I seek to find a fiberglass, 2-piece, no longer than 6' in length which will be used mostly for trolling, but at times, for casting (yes, a standard bait casting reel.) The preference is this blank will be quite stiff, but I would consider a different "feel". Any help appreciated.

I have the dimensions of a graphite rod built by St Croix which is no longer in production. Perhaps one of you can help me find a similarly dimensioned blank. Length= 5'10" Tip= 1/8" ("8"?); 20" from the butt the rod diam.= 1/2" so I am assuming the butt to be 5/8ths to 3/4" in diam. It is a 2-piece rod used for trolling. I have written to St Croix twice an

Tom: You are correct in your design with it being simple and usable in a line drawing format. The logo used by another organization is unclear as to whether it is a person smoking a large pipe, building a rifle, or building a fishing rod. Good work. Bob

I've never tried it as I live near to great trout fly fishing; however, "they say" its a kick to catch Carp on a fly rod. Bob

Gene,
I built on this blank last summer. I would encourage you to just do the static test as it worked just fine for me. I had planned on checking out three different rods I had built and putting one of them in my personal arsenal. The first I tried was the CTS and I didn't bother with the others -- it felt that good to my hand, heart, head. A great rod. /s/Bob

Three years ago, I was like you (flying from Wyoming, Colorado, N or S Dakota, Utah, is very expensive!) and I was hesitant to spend the money; however, I now wish I had more time to market fishing rods to earn enough to go again and again and again! Just go. Tom has put together a "system" (Rodmaker, rodbuilding organization, ICRBE, etc.) that is easy to check out. Invest in

David,
"Nee" is indeed a word which used to be found in wedding announcements and obituaries very frequently. It preceded the printing of or speaking a woman's family of origin name. Now, it is often used in crossword puzzles as the answer to a three letter word clue which means "formerly." Bob

Michael,
I won a 9' 5-wt 5-pc Rx8+ at the ICRBE in 2005. Finally got it put together and used it this year. Good casting rod and handles smaoo dries really well. Plus, it does well with heavier nymphs. You will not go wrong with an RX 8+. Bob

John,
Any and all of the suppliers on the left. Depending on the brands you wish to use in construction as some carry particular brands that others do not. Secondly, who I use depends on how long it takes for shipping or how urgently I need the parts without paying "extra" for super-fast service. Thirdly, from this forum, most (if not all) of the suppliers on the left give excellent

Darby,
There is an "order list" or a sorta "check list" on the photo page if you search it. Tom Kirkman posted it I believe. /s/Bob

If one wanted to, one might even try Gudebrod Rod Restorer if one had it on hand when and if a nick actually did occur. Bob

David, I can't think of any right now; however, if you do a "search" above for acrylic blanks or acrylic reel seats and select "all dates" and any other parameters you desire, I think you will come up with some recommendations. You might also try try any supplier for pool cue blanks or pen blanks. Bob

Several methods are available to find the spline/spine on each separate piece. Do a search for "all dates" with the words "fly rod spine" and you will come up with plenty of reading for the week. Bob

About 8-years ago I vowed I was never going to do another rod because nothing I tried would cure my dry, rough, cracked hands. The local pharmacist would recommend "the strongest" stuff he had and it would not work -- even the stuff for diabetics. I would put the stuff on and sleep with white cotton gloves on my hands. Finally, my wife purchased a bottle of stuff much less exp
