Darby --
Enjoy it for what it is. I appreciate the engineering approach being thrown in at times so there is some "science" supporting the "art." Science and art together are a thing of greater beauty to me than either is by itself. I will go fly fishing at the drop of a hat because I enjoy it; however, I choose not become an entomologist because the process is more intere

WoodCraft has substances called PolyCryl and PolyCrete. Never used them, but am going to try them once I get to building again. Bob

It is a great show! My spouse and I were very relaxed during our time in Charlotte even though we were busy attending seminars and meeting vendors. As others have mentioned, it's difficult to buy when attending by commercial airline. One booth that someone could probably make expenses for the show is a packaging/shipping booth for those having too much to carry on the plane. Secondly, it woul

About air in syringe: ...I have found I get no air in the syinge if I pull the syringe all the way to the top so the syringe is filled with air. Then, I invert the bottle with the adapt-a-cap and syringe connected to prevent leaking. When the initial "big bubble" heads upward in the bottle I push the syringe to introduce even more air into the bottle. This way I never have any "

Joe: Be sure and not tighten it too tightly or it will dent the handle. It worked for me on a fly rod. Bob

I have had no troubles with tips doing this except on factory built, low priced rods -- with or without lube. Since I have been building rods I have been lucky enough I guess to have the pieces fit well and therefore, not need lube. Putting the rod together snugly and aligning the tip with a 1/4 turn twist allows me to fish several days without having to re-assemble the rod at all. When

A client needs a rod with 2-tips (says he "can't keep from breaking them.") Does any supplier/builder carry a graphite fly rod blank with 2-tip sections included? I haven't seen 2-tips since I quit using my bamboo rod in 1970. I appreciate the help. Bob

Spencer: Thanks! That's a possibility, but I don't know for sure. The gentleman who spoke with me said he needed a repair on a custom rod and was looking for Kae Graphite information -- that's all I got from him. I think your information regarding the Kane Klassics Shop in Reno is probably what I was seeking. In case I see this person again I will at least have this info for him. /s/Bob

I was approached yesterday for information regarding a "Kane graphite" fly rod. Kane produced primarily bamboo rods/blanks and this was a short runt blank. Does anyone have information reagarding Kane graphite blanks? Thank you. /s/Bob

Bill: A darn heavy rod!!! (lol) I assume it is a trolling rod which will handle a lead core line -- I've only used lead core iline for fresh water trolling and a regular trolling rod did just fine. /s/Bob

I received a PVC tube from DHL yesterday with one end completely broken off which left the contents exposed. Fortunately, the tube was 6" longer than the rod blanks inside and no damage was done to the merchandise. For me, it was the first time for such poor handling. /s/Bob
