Due to a unique set of circumstances, I was greatly rewarded for attending the Nat'l Rod Builder's Show. I talked with Bob Tignor (FishSticks$U) on Saturday and he was very, very high on Batson's RX8 rods. I have not yet built on a newer Batson blank.
Saturday, at the Rod Maker Magazine reception, I had the first number drawn and it was.............a 5-piece, 908-RX8 with kit. In Wyoming

64. Re: TITAN GUIDES
Pat: I just did a quick search of the forum and found over 130 comments regarding the Titan Guides in the last 90-days. I suspect if you search through all the comments you will find that several have used them. Bob

Rob: I don't know where you live, but many big-city Malls have pen stores. Also, I have purchased on the internet and all come with cartridges AND the filler tube. Just do a search for "fountain pens" and you should get plenty of internet sites. Bob

Received mine yesterday via UPS. I think it was July 2005 when I sent in the card for the dryer.

Try using a bobbin similar to what is used for fly tying. I was fortunate enough to find one which took both fly tying spools and rod building spools (made by Slick, I think) and it works well. With the rod building thread the tension is adjustable without having to use hand tension on the spool while wrapping.

Built two 9' 5wt $15 rods last year. They cast easily with @#$% -- fishing in wind and medium rivers of Western WY. Bob

I built two for my wife and we used them this summer. I second Richard's comment -- good blanks for the money. They got me back into rod buildingand now I'm addicted like others on this board.
