I have been making custom corks for over 10 years and I still use wood glue. You can say waterproof or what ever but after you turn the cork sand it and or do a custom inlay you are going to seal the cork anyways. I have had rods come back to me for eye changes and the corks still look great no cracking nothing. Hope this helps.

I do checkering, kings crown, cork inlays of logo's fish etc. As I am sanding the cork I use a air gun and shoot the cork several times as I am sanding and several times in between. i will than use a terry cloth with alcohol and wipe the cork several times and will also use an old toothbrush or a paint brush ( cut

I do a lot of marbling, graphics and wet slide graphics and the graphic dip. You question on the marbling is If it was me yes I would put a coat of epoxy over the marbled area. it will help protect it also gives it nice depth on the art work. Some people don't But I always have done it. The epoxy will go on a lot easy and the bubbles are very minimal if any because it is a second coat. I would

I use 1/8th masking tape. I test all my guides and never had a problem. I can adjust by re-taping easy enough. No power casting or anything just lightly cast and wath the line through the guides not how far the line goes. I tried all those rubber bands etc. they maybe good for some people. For years the tape has not failed. Hope it helps.

It looks Like u have the cork handle upside down where the butt cap goes. The reel seats looks right. I have done many MHX rods and just finished 2 Drop Shot rods. I had now problem. It does look like its upside down. Hope this helped. I also usually install a colored ring in between the seat and grip to break it up and it looks good.

10. Re: tip top
You can u the glue. Cut a thin piece insert it into the the tiptop and heat the top, than install on rod tip. Never had problems. I would not put it on the rod first like others do. U can also use epoxy but if u are just replacing 1 tip top u have to mix 2 parts not worth it unless u are doing others.

Really doesn't matter Because the epoxy is going to go through the threads and that is what holds it more. Your method is great though. Size a is great for trim pieces and D for the wraps. Epoxy , epoxy it and the strength is more then enough.

I very really have trouble with bubbles. I use a heat gun with variable heat settings and a butane torch at times and I have all good results. I did use a alcohol torch but never really liked it. I went to the butane torch than heat gun excellent results. I also spray the epoxy sometimes with the bubble buster, but the thing is u have to wait for the epoxy to setup and then spray it. I had severa

They really can't be beat. I love and made on for myself. I also have made some St croix but my customers ask for the MHX series. If that was any help to u.

I have one from mudhole that I use for micro guides here is the link. It has treated me good. I also do calculations and check the placement of the guides by taping them all first. I place my rod in rig I made string a line through to an eye on the 2x4 on the ground with wieght. That will show me the rod under load and give me the correct placement of the guides by looking at the through the gui

17. Re: Rod varnish
I have been using Perma Gloss to coat my Graphite rods and they come out great. Like Phil said about varnish I only used that varnish to redo bamboo rods.
