Has anyone found a perfect color match om UM maize yellow in a NCP type thread? In my experience, on-line color charts do vary slightly from true thread color.
Thanks, Ed

I do pretty much the same procedure as Duane with 5 minute epoxy. I have found by tilting the blank(tip down) while turning, the ramp flows out easier and can be done in 2 coats. I use a wedge shape block under my turning motor and adjust the rod supports accordingly.

I built up two of the American tackle MH travel blanks as 7' spinning rods for use on Florida vacations. I think they are a great value and they easily cast 1 1/2 oz lures.

Be sure to get image stabilization(each manufacturer has a different name for it) and a 4 power zoom. Sony as well as others offer these options in your price range. Anything above 7 megapixels will give you quality prints up to 8"x10 prints

Hello,
Does anyone happen to have a Penn 710Z spool that they could measure across the front of the spool for me. I am building a friend a rod and he wants to use his old green 710Z reel.
Thanks, Ed

Mike,
I second the graphite reel seat. If you fish in cold weather, you will really appreciate the graphite.

I would try to work up a 6"-11" long removable fighting butt/grip extension. It would give you the best of both worlds. I would double up the thickness of the butt end of your existing blank for at least 8" then find a scrap piece to slide into it. Be sure it extends your desired 6"-11" and make it a split grip type of extension, it should work out fine! You might nee

Try regular red nylon thread as your top wrap. If you like the effect, be sure to use color preserver on your top thread.

Does anyone have measurements of the ring heights from the blank , either to the center or the bottom of the ring? I am only able to find the total height of each guide, which includes the frame. I am building a conventional rod for use with braid, so I want be sure the butt guide has plenty of foregrip clearance. I am looking at the LRSG, HNSG and HBSG guides in size 20. According to the s

Go easy with the scotchbrite! I got carried away one time and the finish did not remove the scratches. I had to re-wrap the rod!

I built up triangle shaped winding check, with 5 minute epoxy. The epoxy is very easy to shape and to make the transition from round to triangle. I wrapped the epoxy check with black thread and applied my finish epoyy over it. It came out fantastic!!!
