I second the big Thank You to Scott for teaching us your signature wrap! All of your R&D really develped a truly unique and original wrap. I found it interesting that idea for this wrap originated from a business card.

Thanks for all of the input. I applied my initial thin coat 17 days ago. It is my first attempt at a delayed second coat, I usually apply the final coat within 12 hours. My butt wrap is closed black background with pink hearts. I am not sure which gray Scotchbrite that I have, it is un-marked. I did not use alcohol or water after scuffing, just cleaned off any dust with a nylon brush. I did

39. Over scuffing?
Hello,
Prior to second coating a rod, I scuffed it with gray scotchbrite. I noticed that the scuff marks in some area's did not disappear and now appear like cloudy blotches under the new finish.
Is it possible that I was too aggressive with the Scotchbrite? If so, what should I do next?
What grit paper will remove the milky fine scuff marks I made withScotchbrite and will disappear unde

After mixing, pour onto foil or other flat surface. Before applying, blow very lightly through a straw and pop all bubbles. Do the same thing after applying finish on the blank. This tip was suggested by a board member and it has worked for me.

Finish coat came out great. However I still have white milky patches showing from underneath. I am scuffing and re-wrapping the fish butt wrap.
Thanks again for your input.

What I am doing is lightly scraping across the surface with a razor blade. It seems to be removing the milky coat. The only way to see if it works is to apply a coat of LS and Pray that it comes out clear.

Thanks for the suggestions. No C.P. I used permagloss, then LS. These are not soft spots. Seems like a surface film which I can scrape off in places.n clear, hard epoxy underneath.

I built a rod last February. It came out great and has been used often. Last week I noticed that the LS over the butt wrap has an area which bubbled up and was soft. Luckly, it did not penetrate through to the threads. I suspect gasoline or another strong solvent, but I am not sure . I cleaned it with soapy water which removed all of the softer resin. I then scuffed the whole wrap with scot

This may be the perfect scenario for the Flex coat guide foot adhesive. Low tension, no locking wrap and varnish.

I had one 1/2" fiber hanging every 7" or 8" on a brand new spool of size A National Tackle graphite gray color. It went to the trash can.

Jay,
On page 45 in the Merrick catalog, check out decorative winding checks - PN#RSRTBS, they are machined for a TBS reel seat. Are these what you are looking for? They show a color picture on the inside cover of the catalog.
