Steven and Billy, Thanks for the pic's!! Would a grip made out of Texalium be as light as one made from cork or Mooseskin? What is the texture of it? Slippery when wet? Thanks again! Ed

Cliff, I said" looked good on paper". This is why I asked for suggestions from some more experienced builders that may have wrapped a blank with the fast action that I am looking for. I have two old Fenwick HMG's that I wrapped in the early 90's which have moderate action and I want a faster blank. Thanks again to all,for your suggestions! I will give the St Croix 3S66LF a shot, it

Thanks for all the suggestions! I will check them all out. I do plan to use jigs, so the moderate action is out. The blanks looked good on paper to me are the St Croix 2S66LF2, the Rogue SP66322, the Pac Bay Pro PRSB842-2 and the Shikari SH 601. Ed

Hello All, I am going to build some fresh water trout rods. I am looking for a 6'6" 2 piece blank. I will be using 2-6 lb test mostly 4lb and the jig/lure weight will be 1/32-1/4. I am looking for a fast/ultra fast action blank with power between UL and light. Anyone know of any under rated UL blanks or or over rated light power blanks?
Thanks, Ed

If only Ralph would develop a thicker formula to go along with the original formula. Ed

68. Re: blue thread
James, I would try epoxy or Duragloss without CP on the Royal & Cobalt threads. They will darken without CP. Ed

Wow! Only 3% of the total business! Can't really blame them for dumping the program. Ed

70. Fenwick
I wonder if Fenwick helped or hurt it's overall business by not selling blanks to custom rod builders? Do they sell more factory rods because of it? Ed

James, Colors change once your CP or finish is applied. Take a scrap piece of blank, same color as the rod, wrap a band of the few colors that are close. Apply CP to 1/2 of each band and then epoxy all bands. The color that you are looking for may appear! Ed

I would go with the 4500 Baitrunner or a Penn 5500 size reel, just in case you get a 30lb plus bruiser! Ed

79. Re: Inline Acid!
Why not use any ring mentioned above, 1/16"-1/8" larger than the blank and mount it with RTV or another flexible permanent silicone product. RTV comes in colors, it stays flexible at all temps, I'm pretty sure they are not effected by UV rays. Ed

If you are sliding it over one or two coats of high buid over a diamond wrap, you might want to get one size larger than the blank. Checks are cheap so order a few different diameters. Ed

81. Re: Lighting
Thanks guys, I have been using a swing out circle magnifier lamp. With the metallic thread and super glossy blank the glare seem really bad and making my eyes really fatigued. Ed

I went to mix up a batch of Rod Bond and the white resin seems to have really thickend up, almost like parifin wax. Hardner seems fine, it's the consistancy of Vaseline. Is this normal? Will it still work if I mix the crap out of it? I purchased it about a year ago. Thanks, Ed

Acording to the Aftco rep at Merrick's open house, the new formula has better UV properties. No difference in the cure time. Ed
