Just wondering what you have had best results for hte Tiger wraps... A thread for the lower wrap and D upper? A thread on both? Does it matter?
Thanks for any feedback.......

I wanted to do a test on a Tiger Wrap. There were a few questions that have come up regarding the use of Diamondite with this process. I wanted to find out how fast I could complete it and if there were any problems using Diamondite Rod Finish. I was told that it wouldn’t be a good finish to use for the Tiger Wrap process. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I could complete a 3â€

Question #1. I was told by someone that the Pure Diamond rod finish was a really good finish and I thought...what the heck I will try it. I use LS Supreme now and have really good results from that, but just like the most of you out there, I am always looking to better my techniques and always looking for that perfect finish......I do like the LS Supreme and just recieved Threadmaster Lite and

Well, today has not been the best day. To top it off, my wife and I share office and shop space and she saw these all happen....
Rule #1 - Don't touch the new shiny stuff on the wraps. Some days I have to tell myself this one every hour or so throughout the day.
Rule #2 - Let the hot glue cool for 10 or 15 seconds before you try to remove the excess. You want to remove it while it is sti

36. Mock tiger
I've played at the tiger wrap thing, but not as much as I had (sometimes odd) ideas for. Computer programs I tripped over had no depth and only basic color controls. Then it dawned on me today. Ink jet transparancies! Just print off some pages of fine lines in various colors, colored paper for background, and blank sheets in the middle to replicate distance.
So much easier than actually doing

While doing some tiger wraps on some practice pieces,I had something happen that I haven't seen discussed and wondered if this has happened to you. I did the first layer with a green and yellow A thread. I put CP on it and the next day put a coat of flex coat on.The second day I wrapped the next two threads on. After pulling out the pullout I looked at the piece and didn't like the results. There

38. Tiger Wrap
I am in the process of making my first tiger wrap.
I have the first layer completely done, and the second layer is ready to put the finish on. It has been wrapped and the sacificial thread has been removed.
I have white and Black as the base threads, and royal blue as the second thread.
One thing is not clear to me, as I have read and re-read the articles.
Do you put CP on the upper

39. Sulky diameter
I had bought some metallic Sulky thread for a project but am eyeing it now for the outside layer of a tiger wrap for my wife's new rod. Can anyone tell me if it has a close enough diameter to size A Gudebrod to develop a proper moire. It appears to be slightly finer - and if so does anyone have a prediction or experience with what the results would be? The A Gudebrod would be the sacrificial th

Now that I have finished my latest project I'm trying to figure this tiger thing out.
My question concerns thread tension on the top layer, do you want it firm like you're wrapping guides or looser so it's easier to shift around?
Can someone describe the technique for burnishing the top layer?
Unfortunately I can't get Rodmaker here in Canada, so this forum is all I have.
Thanks in advance

Lately I have tried to create some of the holo/tiger wraps that appear in the last issue of RodMaker magazine – with some pretty decent success. I was able to make the wraps turn out fairly well and the wrap took on the tiger/holo effect as desired.
OK, so this isn’t really about the wraps themselves – but while attempting to create holo/tiger wraps, a huge defect in my workmanship comes

First off I would very much like to properly thank Raymond Adams for his great guide on trim wraps. It was long overdue and to be honest, I just found it in my spam email the other day. The result is very nice even though on some of the smaller guides, you almost need the dexterity of a surgeon to pull it off! Here is a pic of my first use of his technic.
Now for the lesson......

I'm building my second SCV fly blank. The first I used dark brown thread with a pearl trim finish. It was OK visually, but I'm out of ideas for another thread color/trim combo.
Has anybody come up with a color combo they like for this "pearl" brown finished blank?
Thanks
Chris
