I've played at the tiger wrap thing, but not as much as I had (sometimes odd) ideas for. Computer programs I tripped over had no depth and only basic color controls. Then it dawned on me today. Ink jet transparancies! Just print off some pages of fine lines in various colors, colored paper for background, and blank sheets in the middle to replicate distance.
So much easier than actually doing a bunch of tests, only to find it wasn't what quite you visualized. Saves a bunch of time, thread, and epoxy Re: Mock tiger

Hi all,
Dave, I just tried to do a similar experiment using Corel draw, only I did not have to print it off to see. It works to a greater degree. I certainly could see the color outcome, and the "moire" effect was very visible, but very uniform. It only took me 10 minutes to compleat a 50 turn section-For sure it allows you to see the results close enough to the real thing to know what the outcome would be, plus it saves time, and thread. Color outcome, not pattern, unless you arrange the threads (lines) in the manner that you'll be burnishing them. Still a good idea, though.

Yup, thats correct Tom, At least the element of color choice can be readily reproduced to see if they work together in a fraction of the time to do a real trial, and no waste of materials-A reference library of color mix swatches can easily be produced as once the initial layout is complete, which took me about ten minutes, the changing of the color mix takes about five minutes per pattern.
I did further the experiment by converting the resulting image to bit map, then I used the bitmap tools to distort the image. Got some interesting results. It does however give you enough information of the outcome to get the general idea of how it should turn out. Earl. Re: Mock tiger

Sounds like something that could be built into a future version of VisualWRAP. Re: Mock tiger

Nice thing doing on transparency material is it isn't precisely flar unless you want it to be. The stuff bends. You can also get some depth with clean sheets in between. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
