Tiger wrap thread color combinations

I've been doing some tiger wrap, test wraps and getting mixed results. I'm building on a purple blank and have tryed, dark purple bright yellow base, metallic black bright yellow base, metallic black metallic silver base, metallic black metallic gold all with metallic purple on top. The one that turned out the best was metallic black metallic pearl with automotive chrome tape underneath, metallic purple on top, this one actually looked like tiger stripes. I'd like to know if anyone else might have a combination that would look good on a purple blank. These are my first attempts so I'm at the beginning of the learning curve.

On a blue St. Croix IV blank I use metallic blue & metal silver as the base and regular dark blue Gudebrod on top. Very happy with it.

take a look at regular black nylon and white NCP base with a regular purple nylon on top. That base, with a variety of colors on top has given me the most striking effects.

I've done several with metallics, and some of htem I like very much, but i think there is a bit of reflection off the metallic thread that takes away from the effect in my eyes. Usually when I do a metallics, its in teh base, along with regular black nylon.

Josh and Keith
Using a solid color on top is something that I hadn't even considered. I'll be sure to give it a try and thanks for the suggestion. Will probably match up better with the guide wraps wrapped in the same solid color. Got the wheels turning now lol.

I went with metalic black and silver base and purple nylon - no color preserver - over the top - looks like a blueberry - it's sharp - the wife is proud of it!

Chuck
I'll give that a try, as I have those thread colors on hand. Sounds like a good match for the purple blank.

I agree with Joshua. I've had my best luck with black and NCP white as a base.
