with the dream reamers , if you use powered equipment to drive them, be sure they are rotating in the proper direction. if not you may peel the sandpaper off quicker than you would think possible. i would go with the other reccomendation of practicing on a scrap rod first. you will see(MY PERSONAL OBSERVATION OF MY WORK) subtle nuances of misspacing you didn't think you did, bubbles in finish, mi

i got some great advise on this forum to use the more expensive BLUE tape because it is perfect for the task. covers well, releases without tearing, leaves no residue when it is removed. best tape i have used! does not pull finish off like cheaper tape did.

LOL! good and great deals on many, many facets of rod building from start to finish. i have maybe two dozen blank

i am thrilled with my set of dream reamers but learned a quick lesson: don't run one in reverse. the sandpaper just came right off.

in the mid 70's i used netcraft(ed ludgate), cabela's, and jackie dickersonson's fish'n shack(now Laker Tackle Company) in camdenton missouri(got my first fuji guides from jadico, i think). and of course dale clemens in allentown, pa. i used midland tackle as well until about 1999 when they closed up shop.

i did a rod for a friend recently on a dsw845(from expo 2008, i think) blank. i was in a hurry trying to get it done and finished. i was trying to keep the blank from getting rodbond on it and put some tape that was handy on the blank.. it was some sort of Christmas gift labeling tape with "from" and "to" on it. when i pulled it off some of the paint on the blank came with it

i went to a hobby store(remote control airplanes) and got some 3/32" fuel line for about $2.50/yd. i slice it with scissors . seems to work fine. i would like to try the cable ties, too, though. i have used tape(adhesive) dots as well, from DUCO, i think.

i have a 7' crankbait blank i want to build. the tip is crooked , about the last foot or so. the deviation is approx. 1/2"-makes about a 1" circle when blank is turned. i don't want to trim the blank, going to use it myself. my question is should i build with the bend arcing toward the ground or the sky as i cast? why? i did a search already. didn't come up with an answer. i am leani
