Loose Ferrule on Northfork Moocher

I'm building a Northfork Comp. moocher blank and noticed the ferrule doesn't fit too well. When you wiggle the blank you can hear the ferrule click back and forth as well as feel it. Have an e-mail into Northfork, but just curious if anyone else has experienced the same?

Thank you whoever you are

There was an article about a year and half ago in RodMaker that spelled out how fit a ferrule and how to tell if it is the tip or butt section that needs to be worked.

It's not hard to do once you understand the process. NFC may just tell you to return it and let them do it, however.

Traded a couple e-mails with Jon and he thonks there might be a knock in it meaning a tip and butt got mismatched. They can't do anything for the tip, but might be able to fix the butt or replace it. I'd hate to be out the handle components - oh well.

Ted:
Rub some white chalk, Crayon, or China White on the male end of the ferrel. Put the 2 pieces together, and just before they get tight, twist the top half of the rod, Take them apart, and look for where the "white" is rubbed off of the blank. If the white is rubbed off of the top of the male end, you can trim the male end a little at a time until it fits. If the white is rubbed off at the bottom end of the male section, you need to trim the end of the top section a little

You can fit this ferrel without sending the rod back to Northfork. Just go very slow on the trimming.
