just wondering how you guys secure your single foot guides on fly rods, especially on the tip section? i thought about ordering some surgical tubing. if my tip top is a 4 then what diameter of tubing should i order? will i need more than one size? any information would be most appreciated. I have used Flexcoat Guide Foot Adhesive the past few years with very good results. Takes a little practice to get the hang of doing it right, but once you do it really makes things easy. Re: help securing single foot guides

Try the smallest size zip ties. They work well on Fuji micro's. Re: help securing single foot guides

Try spinnerbait collars. The ID is small enough to hold guides on small tip sections, and they are pre cut. Not to mention, they stretch out enough to work on areas of the blank up to 1/2" or more.

You can pick up tubing in various diameters at any hobby shop. It's used for fuel lines, etc on model airplanes and is very inexpensive. A few feet, a cutting board and a razor blade and you have a couple years worth. I always slide them on (with a few extras) the blank before I glue on the tip. Makes guide placement/adjustment a snap! Just touch with a razor and they fly off Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!!
