91. Re: Flocking
Can't imagine Bill not mentioning this: In his seminars, he abdicated giving the cork or foam substrate a primer / sealer coat of the paint / adhesive and let dry before doing the actual wet coat and flocking. Bill are you still of this opinion?

Scott Parsons,
As per the post Tom referanced above: The question wasn't answered as to who sells it. I did a search on your site and the Fishstix site and it never came up. Mudhole doesn't list it. Sure would like to get hold of some of this.
Thanks,

Well Billy, You'll have to excuse at this time of the year. It's exactly 1 more month till the 4th anniiversary of my wifes departure from this life. I get this way this time of year. It just happens that her sister is the one that works for UPS, and she's the one I asked. It just seemed like those that have had a problem with UPS suddenly thought I or she were 51% share stockholders in the

Look guy's,
I was just pointing out a dock workers point of view so that MAYBE we could make things a little better. I think next time, I'll just leave well enough alone, and KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT!!!

OK Folks,
In light of all the fairly recent discussions regarding shipping of finished rods and blanks, I posed the question to my sister in law who is a dock / load / unload worker at our local UPS center. I explained to her the problem that rod makers are having with blanks and rods arriving broken. I remembered a recent post where Tom K had suggested that the builder mark his package as

102. Re: chuck for lathe
One note I will add here since it's come up recently is, Golden Witch is now selleing hexagonal mandrels. This help in keeping the cork from spinning while turning. To use those, you have to have either a 3 jaw or Jacobs drill chuck to drive them. Gunny, if your mandrels aren't drilled for the 60 degree cone to accept the live center, you can always purchase a live Jacobs chuck for your t

Here's something I do that works really well. I got a 6" wide stiff putty knife from Lowe's. As long as it's straight and not cupped it works perfectly.

Welcome Bobby,
You may take a look at Mud Holes CRB blanks. You can get them from 5' 6" I believe in 5 different colors.
Cody,
Shame all over you for pitching that rod!! Never throw broken rods away keep them in a barrel in the corner for repair stock, among other things.

Peter,
Your email address is hidden, but if you'll send me an email, I'll send you some information on something I found from Golden Witch that may help deal with your problem. Sorry Tom for dropping a past sponsors name but it was relevant.

Scott,
"Not to mention....if you give them a free decal.....they will sell their own mother a rod ;-)" Not necessarily, it depends on whether they are fishing AGAINST their mother, and how much money is at stake. In my neck of the woods....West Virginia (namely the Ohio River)......the Bass Anglers here WILL cut your throut for a 12" fish. THAT's the reason I got out of

108. Re: grip repair help
Terry,
You never mentioned whether these were custom rods with decorative wraps or off the shelf rods. If the latter then replacing everthing from the butt is fairly straight forwad and easy. You just have to drill them out big enough to fit over the butt of the blank and slide everything up to the first guide, shim as necessary with drywall mesh tape and epoxy in place. Job done!! If the

Tony,
IMHO, you ae thinking along the right lines with the oversleeve. One suggestion......well maybe a couple,,,,,, I would have is, 1) Try to use the thinnest wall fiberglass oversleeve that you can. Remember, your ferrule is already reinforced. 2) Make sure you make a fairly flat taper on the tip side of the oversleeve. If you leave it straight cut, you run the risk of creating ano

I'm not sure but I think that they are sold by John Kuehn, who has the bamboo blanks on that same @#$%& site. If I'm in error, I'm sure I'll be corrected.

If you think you were like a kid in a candy store at MudHole..............multiply that x 100!!!! You not only have several vendors with product to sell, you have the folks there who make it to ask questions and shake blanks to your hearts content. Plus.......the sem

114. Re: What a bad Ohmen
Roger,
I totally agree with your suggestion for a fix. However, since Stephen doesn't say how long he's been building rods, and does say that it was his first rod sold. I think it imparative to stress that the repair stock sections need to be of a lower modulas material than what the original blank was. My preferance is tubular fiberglass repair stock.

116. Re: Epoxy mix
Terry Henson, talked in his feather presentation, about mixing one brand of high build and another of light build 50/50 to get the desired effect. Maybe he'll chime in. He also talked about it here on the forum recently, so you may try a search on his name and find the answer.
