Greg, on the new rod series we are building with this blank we are using the American Tackle Titan guides with a concept spacing. The performance is excellent and so is the response from pro-staff and customers. Todd

Someone told me (I don't remember if it was Ralph or Paul from Gudebrod) that this was the first CP used. If you think about what it does it makes sense. Please try it on a sample first though. Todd

Chuck, the 1361MH would be a bit more moderate than the 1665F or 6F. If I'm not mistaken the original 6F's and 1688F's were built for ULUA fishing in Hawaii. I know from sales 10 + years ago the 6's & 8's were the most popular. This wasn't necessarily due to the casting ability but the lifting capacity because of fishing the cliff's and areas where access to the water was limited. Any more t

Chuck, In our fiberglass surf & bar rods we have always used an alpha numerical rating. The 5 or 6 is the power and the "F" being fast action. If you look at the line up you will see ratings like 1604M or 1362F this being 160" 4 power moderate action or 136" 2 power fast action. If it were a multi piece model you wourld see a "-2" at the end. I'm not really cer

Besides the 9oz in weight the 6F is rated for 8-20 oz and the 5F is rated for 6-16 oz. I believe that there is a slight typo in the catalog, I checked the butt od's and the 5F has a butt od of 1.28 and the 6F is 1.30

I think that the 5F might better suit your needs. It is used here on the Columbia River by the Sturgeon fisher's to throw up to 32 oz of weight & bait in pretty heavy current. Todd

We build ours with cork, very similar to what Tom stated. A full wells with a 2" gap then a 4-5" cigar grip. Todd

Oh and you might want to check, I think the new IGFA rules state no gimbals. I know we had to remove them. I also think there is a 4" limit on the fighting butt. Todd

John, I haven't fished Marlin but I have done Sails and Yellowfin. We have a big game 15 wt. 4pc composite that will hold up to anything you put on the end of it. The model number is CSF 96 154, 8', 15wt, 4pc. This is a glass/graphite composite so it isn't too heavy yet is super durable. Todd

In comparing them from rods we build the Titan frame more closely resembles the rec snake. The fuji is just a bit brighter. Todd

You know if this is a new blank there is no reason you should have to do anything to make it the way it should have been when you purchased it. I would also recommend you contact the manufacturer. These things do happen I have seen my share here. Todd

Shane, If you are live lining small baits or jigs our IMP843 is the model you want. If you are using larger baits or a popping cork the IMP844 will fill your needs. Todd

Eijiro, In all honesty this is a pretty typical bend as long as it isn't huge. Being off a few degrees is pretty typical. The deflection to the left or right generally depends upon the guide orientation. Todd

I have to disagree with the blank not failing. If it is used without a load it would be ok but if you catch fish that flex the blank into the damaged area it will fail pretty quickly. If I were trying to save it I would fix a plug to fit inside that overlaps both sides of the chip by 1-2". Rod Bond it into place then wrap over the top. Todd

A knocking or rocking (clicking) is not always detectable. Also you sometimes find that the fit at the tip and rear of the male ferrule may be fine but the section in between may not. Todd

Art, Lamiglas also offers 4 3pc models in the 7 & 7.5' lengths. IMP843-3 7' 6-15 lb. IMP844-3 7' 8-17 lb. IMP903-3 7.5' 6-15 lb. IMP904-3 7.5' 8-17 lb. We took these models to Costa Rica in May and caught everything from Barracuda to Cabera on them. Todd

Steve, one option that wasn't brought up here but is not uncommon is to develop the product you want then go to a rod company that does private label building. You will get the product you wish with the components you desire built by already trained employees. One advantage here is that you still get to develop your own product but also most companies will offer some sort of warranty at least on

Rich, On our most of our production rods we keep the ferrule wraps at about 1/2". I haven't seen any failure due to the ferrule splitting in many years. On the rods I build personally the wraps never exceed 1/4" with many narrower on small fly or spinning rods. Also, if you are putting the wrap on the female side of the ferrule there should be no obstruction putting on the cork or re

Actually Emory, Our friends across the pond refer to the materials they use in the their blanks in a tonage rating. If I remember correctly the 30 Ton material refers to the equivalent of an IM6, 40 Ton a 50 MM and 50 Ton a HM material. Todd

Mike, I would call them first and see what they can do for you. In some cases they will just replace them, especially if the price of the blank is less than it cost to ship. Todd

I have to say that consistency and quality are first and foremost here at Lamiglas. We do cull our blanks for the custom builder and save the slightly bowed blanks for rods. Even when we were selling blems most of them were better than some first quality blanks I have inspected. I do have the opportunity to check thousands of blanks in import rods. The quality has increased considerably of the pa
