a curved blank

I have a fly rod blank that seems to be curved a little. First, I thought I didn't locate the spine right. So I did the spine test several times. When I line up the guides with the spine on the bottom, the rod seems to be bent to the left a little.
Is this a defective blank? Re: a curved blank

Eijiro,
In all honesty this is a pretty typical bend as long as it isn't huge. Being off a few degrees is pretty typical. The deflection to the left or right generally depends upon the guide orientation. Todd Regards, Todd Vivian Mud Hole Custom Tackle todd@mudhole.com Re: a curved blank

Rarely would the effective spine ever be in line with any natural curve to the blank. That curve will, however, usually fall in line with the blank's stiffest axis.
